Facing TitansBack in late April I was at the University Village in Seattle working with my teammate Barbie Van Horn. We’re conducting a clock hour class and along the way we stop at the Apple Store and see the new iWatch in the front display window.Note to self: These are pretty cool... (research)“I wonder if mobile media will take this on and devices will continue to get smaller?”Not that I’m counter to new trends but I just went to a larger screen with an iPhone 6 Plus. It’s an adjustment carrying a larger phone, but no complaints. I love the 5.5” 1920 x 1080 Retina HD screen. In fact, it’s just large enough I can leave my laptop and iPad behind sometimes when I’m in the field. The camera is much improved too and... “I can see!!!” ...But I digress...I hadn’t noticed until a few days l...

I’ve posted about the University Village in Seattle several times. I draw a lot of inspiration from this urban village and my co-worker Barbie Van Horn and I teach a a really fun and engaging 3 clock hour social media marketing class here once a month titled: Mobile Communication Boot Camp, or #mobilecomcamp for short. There’s always something new to discover here and I especially enjoy the public art. One of my favorite ensembles of cast Bronze sculptures is Coming Home (1995), by Georgia Gerber. I'm not sure exactly why I’m so attracted, but it strikes a chord in me as 'they' say. When I was growing up we were not far from rural and I had many opportunities to spend time on farms and ranches around the are with animals of all kinds. I like the ‘artist's statement’ on her website bio: ...
University District Neighborhood Homes in Seattle WA Find homes for sale in University District Neighborhood in Seattle WA. University District is a district of neighborhoods in Seattle, Washington, so named because the main campus of the University of Washington (UW) is located there. The UW moved in two years after the area was annexed to Seattle, while much of the area was still clear cut forest or stump farmland. The district of neighborhoods grew with the university to become like a smaller version of urban American cities. Neighborhoods within the district include University Park (east from 15th to 25th Avenues N.E., north from N.E. 50th Street to N.E. Ravenna Boulevard, Greek Row (N.E. 45th to N.E. 50th Streets, 15th to 25th Avenues N.E.), University Heights (north of N.E. 45t...

I was out this morning for an urbanscape video shoot with my friend and coworker Barbie Van Horn. Afterwards we were off to Teavana in the University Village, Seattle for a meeting at 11:00 am and invited a few clients to join us for tea. Teavana is a new venture by Starbucks. They purchased the brand and opened their first tea bar in New York’s Upper East Side on October 24, 2013. I’ve been to Teavana in the University Village a few times over the past few months and I have to admit I really like it. And this is from a never been a tea aficionado, I’m a coffee guy. There’s a few things going on here for me and most important... Location, location, location! I didn’t think I liked the new super dense urban villages that are everywhere now, but I do! They are way superior to the old styl...

I was up early and a road warrior this morning. Drove up from Renton to Mill Creek for a workshop in the AM, then back to Eastlake, Seattle for a meeting with Barbie Van Horn and a client. As I’m coming into town I get a message update, “We’re meeting at Agua Verde Cafe for lunch.” Yay! I’m happy, it’s a perfect day for Mexican food and I’m starving. Agua Verde Cafe and Paddle Club is just south of the University of Washington on Portage Bay. It’s a little hard to find if you’re not familiar with the area, but well worth the effort get here. The restaurant is waterfront and adjacent to a Marina and next to Sakuma Viewpoint Park. It’s a beautiful setting and so quintessentially Northwest. You can get here by boat if you want. I can’t believe I haven’t discovered this place before. A litt...
