Oranges, bananas, and a truck load of coconuts in Pukalani MauiI've been meaning to blog about the Upcountry Farmers Market in Pukalani Maui, but in the meantime this teaser photo will show you what bountiful fresh fruits we have here in the winter months.  Lots of citrus are in season now, and breadfruit too.  Bananas come ripe all year round.I especially like to see that truck load of coconuts in the background.  People here love their coconut water as a refreshing drink to provide plenty of electolytes.  Might as well get it right from the source instead of a can.  We kind of take them for granted and just let them fall off the tree and sprout!The market is friendly and casual, on Saturday mornings.  It's free to attend, and you'll find plenty of great food to take home.  I promise t... 02/05/2016

Pukalani Community Center, Maui - take a dip in the pool We've had plenty of hot sunny weather in Upcountry Maui, and it's great to have this fabulous public swimming pool available. Pukalani Maui - more EV charging stations now open There's another new charging station for EV's (electric vehicles) on Maui, and this time it's upcountry at the Pukalani Terrace Center. It looks like there's room for 4 cars, but I didn't see anyone plugged in yet, probably because it's so new. We need to get word out! Welcome to Kulamalu Hilltop, a gated community in Pukalani Maui Kulamalu Hilltop is unique in the upcountry Maui region.  I can't think of any other gated communities in Makawao or Pukalani.  Sure, there's some in Kula, but those are generally large AG communities with acres for each homesite. Ohia Lehua Place is the one cul-de-sac street with only 12 lots, in Kulamalu Hilltop.  Homes along the outer rim enjoy spectacular ocean views.  These homes are limited to a single story.  Homes on the mauka side of the street can be 2 stories or 1.  They also have nice views of the ocean or mountain.   What's been selling in Kulamalu Hilltop?  Since the subdivision is so new, there have not been a lot of resales. Are there any condos in Pukalani Maui?  Yes there are!  Pukalani Maui is located on the slopes of Haleakala, in between Makawao and Kula.  It kind of straddles the rain zone, with one foot on the rainy side of the island, and the other foot on the dry side.  These are the condo projects available for sale in Pukalani, and a little sales history: The Gardens Upcountry are very nice 2-3BD units that come on the market occasionally and recent sales are around $400,000.  Most are 2-story with good views.  Great location within walking distance to shopping and banking.  They are low-rise condos with multiple units per building. Foodland in the Pukalani Terrace Center has the best looking poke! Searching for a Maui home - Why some Kula listings are in Pukalani or Makawao Makawao, Pukalani, and Kula are the 3 main towns in upcountry Maui, on the slopes of Haleakala.  Sometimes when searching for properties you'll find one that seems to be in the wrong location.  There can be various reasons. Makawao and Pukalani share a zip code 96768, though they are geographically distinct Pukalani has its own zip code only if you have a PO Box at their post office Kula 200 is really part of Pukalani but most of us consider it to be Kula as far as real estate goes some REO asset managers insist on inputting a property into the MLS based on the zip code Kulamalu is in Pukalani, Kulamanu is in Kula So be sure to check all 3 towns if you really want an all-inclusive search.  Get a good Realtor t... 08/29/2013
