  Living in Wailea Highlands - Wailea Maui HI 96753 Wailea Maui has a number of gated communities for single family homes.  One of the smaller ones is called Wailea Highlands, due to the sometimes steep terrain which offers fabulous ocean views.  Comprised of only 24 lots, which are about a half acre in size, there is one main street called Melianani Place, and a couple of cul-de-sacs: Noho Like Way and Akaula Way.  The exclusive Wailea Highlands is accessed from Kaukahi Street, which is the road mauka of Wailea Alanui that heads up to the Wailea Hotel and Capische Restaurant.  This is NOT an oceanfront neighborhood.   ALOHA FROM MAUI It's ALOHA FRIDAY - and we're celebrating 30 years of living on Maui by spending some time at the Makena Beach and Golf Resort on the south side of Maui. It's a beautiful sunny day, with no wind.  I can see the clouds piling up on the West Maui mountains from the lanai, and hear the gentle rhythm of the waves lapping the sand. It's Aloha Friday and we're heading over to the south side - to Wailea Maui.  We have a date with the tax preparer, and then a dinner date!   Dinner is at Capische? Restaurant at the Hotel Wailea (formerly Diamond Resort).  This will be a first time experience for us, and the have promised us a nice romantic table so we'll have an extra special time. I already know that it's going to be fabulous, due to the excellent reports that the restaurant gets.  The setting is outdoors, with a terrace overlooking a lush tropical garden.  Seating is either on the terrace or down below in the garden. The fare is Italian and features a lot of local products for freshness.  I'll be back with a full report to post here later. Recently my family and I spent the weekend at Maui's luxurious Fairmont Kea Lani hotel in Wailea!  This is a beautiful resort situated right off of Polo Beach, providing a magnificent setting.  If you are interested in vacationing in Wailea, but cannot decide between the other grand resorts, I certainly recommend the Fairmont Kea Lani.
