I play this "game" from time-to-time but not officially. "Slim Pickens" is not just a long ago name from old movies about the West but a description that can be used to describe a visit to the blog roll on some days. Finding favorites can be fun along with discovering a previously unknown-to-me member. Each day is a new adventure.

No ..... I think that scrolling thru that many pages on the roll is a problem. I don't want to read those market posts so MAYBE I find something on page 10?
No one reads anything on page 10 if this were Google.

Interesting game and stimulating answers but too busy today to play games. Hint well taken. But believe me, everyone who posts here is doing their best to serve a portion of the audience and is doing their best to attract their interest. ,

How about:
How will a post virus recession impact the housing market
physical distance but social connection but I might be prejudiced on this one.
and that's the end of page 5.

After plowing past the market reports and listings, I can still find enough to keep me busy reading and commenting to my hearts content.

Looked at the first 5. Most of them were from a robo-poster Mario Ahmedi. Out of the others, there were 3 titles that weren't listing or market related, but zero that made me want to open them.

ActiveRain Member Support I play this game every week when I look for posts for my Sunday series. There are some days when my cup runneth over, and other days that remind me of one of my favorite cowboy star...Slim Pickens.

Titles do tend to attract our attention, like shiny objects and pretty people.
With time most of us grow to understand that what is below the surface, beyond the title, shine and pretty dress is the subject of the person, thing, or article.
Sometimes a catchy title is the one we ignore after a few times of clicking on one and finding little or no substance below.

Subject matter not catchy titles speaks to me first
If I don't see anything of interest within 5-7 postings....I'm gone
Many feature worthy go unnoticed
Some that are featured makes one wonder. Truly subjective here
A good rule: No need to reinvent the dynamics of an ESSAY. Everyone should look this up and follow the steps. Those first few words (not the title) are part of a 1-2 sentence or short paragraph explaining the whole posting right there. What follows is the point, the contrast or compare, emphasis, summary and conclusion of the point with a appropriate ending

I don't think I ever posted anything for other AR members per se but for my market area. I also haven't found a post to read unless it caught my eye on FB.

I just looked at the first five pages and clicked on two posts, but only because they are writers I like anyway. Neither was a "feature-worthy" post (broad appeal, etc).

Looking at the Active Rain blog posts today (20Mar20) I reviewed the titles of the first five pages. I must make clear Marico is making a mess of everything.
Page #1. _None
Page #2 Trends could be of interest
Page #3 - Post C-19 is good and 'Gift the DP' had potential but the wrong title used
Page #4 & 5 NONE = Marico
Now, let's bear in mind the writer may know their reader audience and these blogs may be tailored for them, NOT other real estate agents. Be aware, these blogs may be the connector to a piece of direct mail.
Ok, now, NONE of blogs exhibit any of the basic principles of blogging is so far as creating a title to get the seeking population to lean in. I suggest the effort required to create capturing titles and emerisve content is not equivalent to the outcome.
Everyone here knows how to write a compelling title (how to, lists, fear, asperation, solution) and fabric rich blog. So, one may ask, "Why has the desire to create compelling titles and relevant content vanished?"
I have my own experience of why, but lets let others complete their review.
LET me add, for decades the 'Feature Fairy' was always a secretive issue. Selection criteria a bit nebulous. So now that we know the Feature Fairy is ARMS, we are all supportive of keeping the 'mothership' afloat.
Let us know where AR is going and we can get on board and paddle in the same direction. Be aware, PUBLIC readership of blogs on AR is directly related to real estate agents driving traffic to AR. Give us something to work with. All I can FEEL is the Trulia betrayal.

I think that our friend Michael Jacobs said it perfectly well, and I do end up on page 3 or 4, or will search for a blog by a favorite blogger. A

And don't forget the need for a graphic!
These days, it's slim to none in those first 5 pages. I search for newbies to welcome them and then look for a title that is appealing. Most days, however, I just stick to my roll.
