The market took a nose dive in late 1979 which gave me an excuse to look around for a better real estate market and warmer climate. Visited Texas in January 1980 and fell in love with Austin so wee went back to Dayton, sold our house and was ready to move when I tore the ligments in my knee playing softball. Nope, did not stop us. Moved in with my mother in law for 60 days before packing everything up and moving to Austin, Texas in 1980. After 28 good years, and surviving two recessions, it was time to move on again. Kids had gone off to college and Austin had gotten too big and with way too much traffic. In 1980 there were abour 225,000. people, today ??? 850,000 and growing. It was time to slow down the pace so we sold our home and moved to Galveston in 2008 right before IKE hit. Luckily our house was spared with no damage other than some landscaping. We are now enjoying the more laid back pace of the Island which we call "Island Time".
