Hello All,

I’ve been a mortgage broker for over 25 years, and have been a broker/owner since 1993. I have personally closed well over a billion dollars in transaction volume over the course of my career.

My bread and butter has always been residential lending, however, in pursuit of real estate development goals for my own account, I completed all CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Members) coursework, in addition to earning certifications from the Urban Land Institute entitled Professional Development Certificate and Professional Development Financing Certificate.

I have been able to put this more specialized knowledge to use on behalf of my clients in structuring numerous value-add real estate transactions including land development and commercial projects such as low occupancy apartment complexes and retail centers in which I have arranged both debt and equity capital from both institutional and private sources.

But… my bread and butter is residential purchase and refinance transactions derived from a referral base of past customers and referral partners.

My present company business model is built around my personal loan originations. I am now 54 years old and I am no longer interested in managing multiple loan officers and employees. I have one full time licensed Loan Processor on staff who has been with me for 15 years and I have relationships with several very good contract Loan Processors whom I can rely on when volume dictates.

I recently have developed a business relationship with my son-in-law, Brian Watson, who is now our Marketing Manager. In addition to managing our database and developing and maintaining our client retention systems, he is developing and implementing new tools to assist our referral partners in increasing their business volume along with ours. The residential lending business has become very decentralized and very technology driven. We  are electronically connected to over 150 lenders and we have tools to sort through all of these lending sources to identify the best loan program for a given borrower/property combination. We use secure file sharing tools to collect documentation from our clients and, in most cases, electronic signatures for loan application packages.

All of this great connectivity and a decentralized employee model allows me to work from two home offices; one in South Lake Tahoe and one in Oakland. I strive to make myself available any time that meets my clients’ and referral partners’ needs. I am available by cell phone on nights and weekends. I make it clear to all parties involved in every transaction of which I am a team member, that if I can answer my phone I will, and if I can’t, I will return the call ASAP
