Crazy English: Oh boy I can relate to this one. FYI one of our Active Rain friends recently posted about this very subject. So with that said I had to grab the book that has been sitting on top of all the other books waiting  for me to read.... (Keep in mind I had the book since 1989). I guess it is never too late to pick it up for the second time. Interestingly, then to boot I had cut out an article in 1996 that Ann Landers wrote and was inside the book. Well see for yourself...Ironically I had a Yellow Sticky Note, from the last time I picked up the book to this quote:..."In 1750 Phillip, Fourth Earl of Chesterfield, wrote, in a letter to his son, "One false spelling may fix a stigma upon a man for life" If Lord Chesterfield's chilling dictum is true all of us are stigmatized, for who...

While chatting with an old friend a couple weeks ago, we decided to calendar a day trip to Apple Hill.  Marcia and I have known each other since 1950.  Yep, that's a little over 70 years.  We went all through school together beginning in the 2nd grade.Apple Hill is a community of more than 50 farms that grow an array of apples, pumpkins and Christmas trees, in addition to there being a few wineries.  Apple Hill is a community that comes alive each autumn. So today, Marcia and I visited several favorite farms, and enjoyed looking at the jams, jellies, crafts and other products, while drinking hot spiced cider and nibbling on apple walnut donuts. For those who live in the Greater Sacramento region, Apple Hill is about 40 miles east of Sacramento, along highway 50.  It's a delightful way to...

http://MikesDailyMarketReport.com:  Housing Starts dropped 1.6% in September, as they reported only 1.555 million seasonally adjusted units were started.  If you look within the numbers, then most of the numbers were due to a drop with multifamily units (whereas, single family homes were within expectations).  Also, Building Permits dropped 7.7% in September, bringing it down to 1.589 million seasonally adjusted units.  Yesterday, we had an increase with Home Builder Confidence, but they did state that supply chain and labor shortages are creating delays with their plans.  Meanwhile, Stocks are Up on better than expected Q3 Earnings Reports.  Markets will be watching a few different Fed Speakers, so there may be some movement based on what they say.  MBS started the day off higher, then...

Carlsbad Village Street Faire ~ November 7, 2021 After being canceled in 2020 due to COVID, one of the area’s favorite arts and crafts fairs returns to Carlsbad Village on Sunday November 7th. The fair is sponsored by the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. The Carlsbad Village Street Faire is supposedly the largest outdoor 1-day fair in the US. Held annually in the spring and fall, the fair will run from 8 am until 4 pm. The Carlsbad Village Street Faire is held in the heart of the Village, along Grand Avenue from Carlsbad Boulevard to Jefferson. Because of the size the fair also spills over onto side streets including State Street. You’ll see signs warning everyone about this upcoming special event, since much of the parking on these streets will not be available due to the fair. (photo fro...
