I believe my "other life" as a registered nurse and working in the intensive care unit at Stanford and the emergency room at El Camino Hospital prepared me for the potentially stressful career in real estate. My training taught me not only to ask questions and listen to what a person says but to read body language and understand what they mean. My negotiating skills were developed early. After all, if you can convince someone to get out of bed and walk within a day after having major surgery you certainly have the skills to negotiate real estate contracts. I learned to keep calm when surrounded by chaos and to keep things in perspective.
Besides selling houses, I believe in housing for everyone and have helped build homes from the ground up. I have traveled to Mexico on three separate years to build houses for the poor. In addition, I have traveled to Mississippi two years in a row to help rebuild homes damaged by hurricane Katrina. The first year I went with my church group. In 2007 as President of Northern California CRS, I returned to Mississippi leading a group of Realtors . As a result of our hands on effort and the monetary donations raised (over $18,000), our Northern California Chapter received the covented Chapter of the Year Award from the national Council of Residential Specialists. An award never received in this chapter's history.
