Is it the promise of an exciting, challenging day? Or the prospect of making a difference in someones life? I read an article years ago that explained that women especially need reasons to get up as we age. For me, it makes sense. No matter how detailed I am about my schedule for the week, I must have a reason, no matter to me how small or insignificant to push me forward. So find reasons or a purpose to get up and go! Our youngest son is away at camp this week pursuing his dreams of one day becoming a professional skateboarder. Part of pursuing passions is having the necessary tools in order to achieve your dreams. The other part is up to you. I have always told him that if he wanted something bad enough, he'd work hard enough for it. He practices, practices and practices. This camp will allow him to stretch his abilities and confirm that he has chosen something worthwhile for himself. I am glad he has the courage to pursue his dreams and am proud that he is taking necessary steps to get there! Dave and his buddies were hanging out and planning an upcoming fishing trip. Unfortunately, he had to tell them that he couldn't go this time because his wife wouldn't let him. After a lot of teasing and name calling, Dave headed home frustrated.  The following week when Dave's buddies arrived at the lake to set up camp, they were shocked to see Dave. Finally, I am able to afford an assistant. The last few weeks have been crazy-busy and without much down time... I am looking forward to my assistant handling some of my duties such as: Taking my calls Answering my e-mails Scheduling showings Taking care of Open House details Creating flyers & brochures Refilling brochure boxes ...It was a nice thought while it lasted!!! At least our little kitty will be good for stress release...she is quite entertaining! MEET MY NEW ASSISTANT...HIWAY! She is very inexpensive and only charges room and board with an occasional toy thrown in. She has to check everything out and especially likes hiding behind my monitor while I'm typing and stalking my fingers! When my car broke down last week I felt so very helpless because I depend heavily on my car for my day-to-day business and appreciate the freedom of getting in my car and driving. I'm sure most of you are able to relate to this. I thought I'd make a list of items to check on a regular basis to keep your vehicle in good running order. Change your oil regularly, every 3,000 to 4,000 miles. All fluids should be checked at that time including; brake, power steering, transmission/transaxle, windshield washer solvent and antifreeze. The air filter should also be checked. To ensure it is still allowing proper air flow to the engine. Check tire inflation at least once a month. In the summer, due to warmer temperatures, check them more frequently. Proper amount in tires can save wear and tear a... 07/26/2009

I'm Getting a Brand New Kitchen! How Exciting is THAT?! I have been waiting for this for quite a few years as our kitchen is too small for both of us to prepare food and cook together. I met my clients at the office to view properties. We headed out at 9:30 a.m. I always schedule to show a home that I know is occupied, in order to avoid any surprises... (I've had many!). We came to one house and the owner greeted us at the door with a mouthful of food...and said she hoped we didn't mind that her and her husband was eating...what was I supposed to say, "What are you doing here?!",  " Why don't you two take a walk down the road or go for a drive?!" The purpose of scheduling is so potential buyers can walk through a home uninterrupted by renters or owners who may not be especially glad to see strangers walking through their home.I attempted to engage the owner and every time it was a quick one word answer...yeah...no...this was going nowhere! SunRiver in St George Utah.  SunRiver is located off of Interstate 15 approximately 3 miles north of the Arizona border in Utah. Sunriver is one of the most respected "active adult" communities in St George. This community is a 55 and older (only 1 resident must be over the age of 55) however; they do allow a percentage of residents to move in that are over the age of 49. So, if you're not quite 55 yet desire an adult community, it may be possible to purchase real estate in SunRiver Utah. I remember sitting with a broker several years ago as he began to tell me about selling homes way back when and how very little paperwork was involved. He told me back then some of the contracts were written on just one page. One page?! I was incredulous and amazed that the entire real estate transaction could be included in just one page! I thought...the text had to be very small in order to get EVERYTHING on that single piece of paper. While he was telling me the story, was busy writing as well. As he finished the story, and handed me the paper he was writing on...and this is what it said...ha-ha!   Wow! How times have changed! My car overheated yesterday and as I stood next to it, steam coming from under the hood, coolant pooling under my car, no one stopped to HELP! A grandpa in a small pick-up, who I really thought would offer help, just looked over at me and continued driving! A 20-something year old man in a pumped up, jacked up pick up didn't even glance over at me and continued on. I know he had to have seen me but looked away as his truck approached... Not to mention a train of cars...just zooming by! I was there for 20 minutes in 100 degree heat... With one exception. an elderly woman in an older model car with an oxygen tube running up her nose! She stopped and asked if there was anything she could do for me...how sweet! So, I just wanted to say THANK YOU to the only person who offered help yesterday... 07/23/2009
