Nerdin Gardens: Stretching the Prospecting Muscle Venturing out to the gardens in search of Praying Mantis hatchlings can become an adventure. Extremely elusive at a glance, knowing where to look, with an experienced eye, helps. They are diligent, self-motivated hunters, often traveling to great lengths to forage. Well-honed instincts guide them to food sources, their stealthiness provides cover against predators. After looking for quite some time under/over leaves and high atop stately Hollyhock towers, I spied with my side eye...a tiny mantis stretching itself an effort to satisfy his appetite.  Remaining alive depends on consistent methods implemented every day. I was so excited, took a picture to remember and celebrate his most welcome presence in Nerdin Gardens. We can all learn go...

How to Give Your Home Old World AppealIt can be difficult to escape technology in our fast-paced, modern lives. Perhaps that’s why so many luxury homeowners appreciate a residence that turns back the clock with a distinctly Old World feel. If you want a home that exudes the inimitable craftsmanship of yesteryear, here are several tips to help capture the ambiance.Utilize Natural MaterialsAn abundance of natural materials, such as wood and stone, can certainly contribute to this aesthetic. For example, a living room that boasts a grand stone fireplace and wood-beamed ceilings will instantly recall the splendor of a bygone era as soon as one enters the room. These details can continue throughout, with stone floors, wood-paneled walls and much more.Work With ArtisansOf course, to truly re...

Today we are going to try something a little different. We are going change over to the Country genre and at the same time give you two versions of the same song. Back in the 1970s a lot of Country stars were crossing over to the Rock charts. These days, it seems a lot of former Rockers are crossing over to the Country charts. I guess what goes around comes around.Todays’ song is Try a Little Kindness first recorded by Glen Campbell. Campbell took the song to number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song also topped the charts on the Hot Adult Contemporary category as well as the country charts.Campbell famous for songs such as Gentle on My Mind and Wichita Lineman amongst others was a renown guitarist and a member of The Wrecking Crew a collective of session musicians that backed up bi...

1 Corinthians 13:4-5“Love is patient, love is kind, It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.” What ever you do lead with love.  Do it with love, respond with love as much and as often as possible.  What most people need is more love!  What most challenging situations have is a lack of love.  Most sickness’ come from a lack of love.  Most evil and darkness is a lack of love and light.  As you move forward on your journey by living a KINDGOM lifestyle you are truly doing this out of love for those around you, love for future generations and love for yourself.  You care enough about yourself to improve, and often our growth is because of the love we have for those around us and our...

It's never too late to secure your financial future. At, a public service offered by the Dallas Federal Reserve, you can learn how to reach your life goals by budgeting, saving and investing, building credit and controlling debt. When you understand the difference between assets and liabilities, you know that owning a home, contributing to a retirement plan, and creating savings are all assets in the making because they increase in value or provide a return. Automobiles, clothing, smartphones and furniture are not assets because they depreciate in value. Liabilities are debts that you owe to credit card companies, mortgage lenders, hospitals, etc.It doesn't make sense to go into debt to buy possessions that aren't assets, unless it serves a necessity like a car that ge...

The major challenge in todays housing market is that there are more buyers looking to purchase than there are homes available to buy. Simply put, supply cant keep up with demand. A normal market has a 6-month supply of homes for sale. Anything over that indicates its a buyers market, but an inventory level below that threshold means were in a sellers market. Todays inventory level sits far below the norm.According to the Existing Home Sales Report from the National Association of Realtors (NAR):Total housing inventory at the end of April amounted to 1.16 million units, up 10.5% from March’s inventory and down 20.5% from one year ago (1.46 million). Unsold inventory sits at a 2.4-month supply at the current sales pace, slightly up from March’s 2.1-month supply and down from the 4.0-month...

Homeowners enjoy the cost benefits of ready-to-assemble (RTA) cabinets. It is possible to save some money when opting for RTA kitchen cabinets rather than the already-assembled ones. It is a trend that most homeowners are buying into because of the many benefits. However, just before you buy your RTA cabinets, you should know a little bit more about this cabinetry type. What Are RTA Cabinets?RTA cabinets are an option of cabinets that have been made ready for assembling. By Gary Thomas, Realtor to the Dreamers
(Preferred Properties Key West)
As always this is a true story. The names have been changed to protect me from lawyers. It was perhaps 12 years ago that I got a phone call from a gay man I will call Herb who wanted to buy a place in Key West. He found me on my blog and learned that I was also gay. He thought, I think, it would be a good fit. He was wrong on many points.  We began a telephone and email dialogue to find the best place for him. I can share a bit without sharing too much. He was older. He was a hair dresser. (That's what he called it.) He wanted to be near Duval Street so that he could meet people. His brother was a surgeon and would be the actual buyer. We began our search. As I write this I remember countless phone calls from Herb who rambled on and on. I sensed, no knew, Herb had a drinking problem. I l...
