Lowes and Home Depot and Sears will be having big sales for Labor Day and the 4th of July. Too bad you missed the ones for Memorial day.

Maytag is not what it once was.
Speed Queen - they are one of the last companies that make their products in America (or they were when we bought new appliances in 2016). Speed Queen is the brand that hotels and hospitals and coin laundrys use. (Not sure if they offer gas - we have electric).
Shop Local, at a store that offers Service. We are fortunate to have Mays Monroe (in business since 1930) and Bobby Dollar Appliance (ask for Bobby, the guy is an appliance encyclopedia). You pay a little more, but they stand behind what they sell.
Avoid the Big Box hardware stores like Lowe's and Home Depot. With respect, their employees know nothing about what they are selling, and they farm out the service and the warranty.
One more thought about washing machines... avoid the new ones with plastic tubs! Think about putting spaghetti sauce in white tupperware, how that orange color will never go away... same thing with plastic tub washing machines.

I loved my ASCO washer/dryer for 17 years; had to replace. Hubby did research; got Bosch at PC Richards; can shop prices, some places will match what you find online as the lowest.

I had my 10 year old LG front loader worked on not long ago. The repair man said LG is no longer made in South Korea but are being made in China, and that the quality has really gone down. I asked him what he recommended and he said Kenmore. I think Best Buy had good deals on them. You might want to check Consumer Report.

In '14, I blew up my dryer (and almost house, cautionary tale about having dryer duct cleaned annually even if the other ducts don't need it)
Was advised to replace with Maytag Commercial W/D for heavy items/use. Great advice.

Roy,
It depends on your preferences and standards. If I were to buy these, I would look for durability, water saving, and energy saving. I would buy a good brand, and I would buy the model just below the one that is the very top of the line. A

Roy, there is no one right answer. Sterling Appliance has been in business for 40 years or so. https://www.sterlingappliance.com/

You know, I always bought my appliances from Sears. I always got the best deal. But, I am not sure I trust them anymore. They just might go out of business.
Besides one thing I know about appliances is I don't care what kind, what brand, what color (I would beat my clothes on a rock). But my wife cares. So whatever she wants she gets.

We have been very happy with our Whirlpool Cabrio W and D. Not sure there is a BEST place for prices, especially with sales coming up for July 4th. Home Depot, Lowes, Sears, Best Buy?

I always check for deals at a Lowes or local appliance store. Every brand I ask about these days seems to be problematic. I'm a big Miele fan, but very expensive and not easy to find.

This is such a personal purchase. One size does not fit all. It depends on where they will be located, your use, personal style, etc. I know you and Dolores will make the perfect choice for your purchase.

We purchased new about a year ago through Costco after our previous equipment died after only 27 years. The Concierge service delivered installed and removed the old equipment flawlessly. The only disadvantage was we had to wait a bit for delivery.

Personally either in Oklahoma City or Florda we use specialty companies who have been in business a long time where we know if there are problems we will be taskern care of. No Lowes or Home Depot for us.

Costco is good though there white glove delivery is not the best, or your local dealer, they might match costco price and usually have better delivery and setup, but ask.

I have front-loader Bosch washer & dryer - I've had them both for 11 years and they are both still running like tops (knock on wood)!
We got them from a fabulous local appliance store that beat all of the national big brands on both price and service.
