Shy? What's that?
I just did the math because I'm reordering business cards. I gave out 2,500 cards in 17 months so that's 5 per day average or really about 6 per-work-day since I only work 6 days per week.
Wow! I never calculated that before, not bad.

A "shy" real estate agent doesn't have a chance.
B-cards? New agents should hand them to everyone they meet... but established agents spend their time maintaining and expanding upon existing relationships.

I am not shy, but I am reserved. I hardly ever pass out business cards... I don't even think about doing it. I give a card when requested. By the same token what is the direct connection between shy and business cards?

I wouldn't say I'm shy at all but, I am more of a listener in any conversation - which serves me well in this business! You'd be surprised at what you learn when you listen! LOL
As for business cards - it goes in spurts. I'm more of a people-person that spends more time with people I know than putting myself out there to meet/make new friends. Referrals and past-client business is the vast majority of my business so, I don't pass out a lot of business cards!

If you are in sales and you are shy you might consider another profession. Back in the day I had a goal to pass out 27 cards per day. That say about 10,000 a year.

Karen, I would consider myself a shy person. We are content to maintain our sphere of influence and their new referrals, and it is all the business we care to handle.
I don't hand out business cards unless asked, and most of the business cards that I use are left after a showing upon request by the listing agent.

It's not a question for me about being shy or not. I'm looking for a connection before "handing out" a business card although we are "required" to leave a card while previewing/showing a property per our mls rules.

I don't think realtors are shy; my previous broker used to say "Dont' Be a Secret Agent". I'm with Susan Emo on this one. I found more people not appreciating when we just hand out cards. We are in the business of establishing and nurturing relationship and the business comes from there.

I am a shy real estate agent.
Business card goals are around five a day. These cards present more value to the recipient than my contact information and do not rely on my hand for distribution.
I do not, but it is possible to have a successful 'no touch' real estate enterprise.

I don't just pass out business cards. If the topic of real estate comes up, then I'll pass them out to those people. New technology is available to that can take the place of business cards in many cases.
