I've never given Z a penny.... 

I saw that from Nina Hollander post yesterday and then again later in the day when the article hit my in-box.  I have nothing kind to say about the Zit Monster.  My blood pressure is down today and I want to keep it that way.

It's funny but Activerain had that domain at one time. I think it was owned by Market Leader then Trulia bought market leader and activerain. They tried to push realestate.com. I wrote an article for it. It was going to be the next sliced bread then it disapeared. My first thought was Zillow is the better teckie name for millenials. RealEstate.com is generic and it never worked before. I wish them well. I don't buy leads and I don't like other agents buying ads or impressions as so-called experts on my listings. 

Again I'm thankful Z doesn't live in Canada!!  

They get ZERO $ from me.

I don't really see it as much of a change.  It's directed to millineals.  Selling ad space to agents will still be their primary source of income.  Still don't see them going to selling houses directly or having their own brokerage because that would be cutting their own revenue stream.  No agent would pay to advertise on a competitor's site.

They keep pushing new things and getting new business. 

Not surprised and am not going to waste any time on their adventures. Their out to make money off of agents and they aren't going to be making money off of me.

I'm sure they have more tricks up their sleeves to unveil in the near future.

Until the desparate  agents stop paying these companies they will continue to be a thorn in our sides.

Well I'm not surprised - they're about making money off agents so here they go again.

They should improve their customer services

Nina Hollander wrote a post about this yesterday...All can say about this move is that it is similar to when they announced on CNBC that using Pokemon as a way to show the way to open house is a good way to bring people in...They are trying to appease their stockholders  A

Yes it is a for profit company and they will try to find whatever nitch has the best return. 

Read that yesterday and didn't surprise me one bit. We all knew something was coming and they would be working their way into the real estate business. I believe there is much more to come.

My thought is that it's very clever on Zillow's part to target the younger buyers as the old style real estate agent approach with their scripted spiels does not appeal to them.

Nina Hollander just posted about this as well on her blog.  I don't really get it. I'm not entirely sure I understand how the new site will differ. -Kasey

What Corinne Guest, Managing Broker said - we really need to figure out how to warn these newbies.  I don't work with a lot of them but, I would certainly like to help with a campaign to connect with them. I'd love for them to understand how to run a business...and it doesn't include buying leads (or a whole host of other things for which we are constantly being solicited). 

I have said it before and it worth saying again... Realtor watch out, look closely at the taxi industry they no longer number one  Uber has moved into that number one spot as a private  hauler ie. taxi. Closer to home the number one property rental company does not own one single property but is number one in the market can you guess?  Airbnb!  all these new tech companies are replacing the old business  models quickly.  Old brick and mortar are out, online are in!

Well, that's just bleepin' great! How did they get that domain? Must have cost them dearly.

I am not concerned but miffed again at NAR's lack of vision on where we are headed. They are taking the lead again. 

I will say that I don't give a sh**% about millenials as they do not have any money! They are the group that is living in Mom's basement.

To save $$ they just should have rebranded Trulia.

Man!  Now I really wish I owned that domain name!

My thoughts:

1. This is a clever rebranding to get away from the zillow name and negativity around it.
2. Will it replace Zillow or be run alongside it?
3. Interesting to pick a domain name that NAR really should have had and that has a good competition with realtor.com 
4. I can see them stealing a lot of traffic if they work it right.  Type "REAL" into the browser or google and suggested sites could very easily put their site up instead of realtor.com... eventually.  Would need an army of people searching on it... like their employees or some bots.

I think it would be interesting to see what the millenial population is on a state by state basis. 

Creating a whole new website geared toward millenials seems kind of like a gimic to me. It makes me wonder if it's the same site as Zillow, but with images millenials would relate to!!!  

Zillow gets nothing from me! A practice I intend to continue!

Hi Thomas... yes, I saw this... in fact I posted about it minutes after the news came across. Unfortunately, Zillow is a fact of life for us all now and it will be hard to beat them at their game. Maybe more agents will stop "giving" them money.

I have already positioned myself to avoid syndication of my listings to this site. I will manually and selectively syndicate my listings from now on! Allo real estate agents need to do the same.

Great URL that will get lots of organic searches.

Yet another action by the darkside to control the narrative about real estate.

THEY are the voice of the industry, and very, very, very soon they will start influencing the industry.

Control the information and you control the society.

You can thank you associations, NAR, franchise and possibly your broker for looking after you best interests. The $2,500 transaction is coming your way.
