When it comes to those promising to leave after the election, i think it is all hot air. Some of those celebrities wont be missed if they do. Real folks can not just pack up and leave so quickly and will be in for a shock when they try to get some medical care under the Canadian laws. The shocker will be when people see all the taxes Hillary wants to implement. It may drive the middle class to the poor house.

    I have friends with VRBO's in North Carolina, Colorado, Arizona.  Hadn't thought about Canada.  Very intriguing idea. 

     What about income taxes/sales taxes, different laws regarding rentals, etc.?

The money exchange looks good today, but tomorrow may be different and could throw a wrench into things

I hear they have something called "snow" in Canada.  I'm not sure I want to learn what that is.  I also hear Ottawa is the second coldest national capital, right behind the capital of Mongolia.

But since you're up there, please, please PLEASE send me some Tim Horton's and some Beavertails!!!  That's the main reason I go there.

Why wanting to find a winter wonderland in Montereal from Sunny California? The winter fuel cost will be more than mortgage in Canada.

I still can converse in conversational French so it is not a foreign setting. 60% of locals speak French there.

Again it is a wonderful city to visit considering the French quarter is not often a city one can find in No America.

Our friends in Canada no doubt have some good thoughts on this!

Snowbirds are coming to Arizona

I would check with a Canadian who is up to speed on this market.

It might be a good idea. The economy is a moving target.

We have plenty of snow bird condo owners here in metro Miami, Ft Lauderdale and Palm Beach.  We see for sale more than purchase we the current exchange rates.

I recently purchased 2 properties in Mexico to do Airbnb & VRBO.  Purchased them one for $35,000 and the other one for $75,000.  The $35,000 unit rents for $50 per night off season and up to $99 per night in the high season. The other rents for $75 per night in the low season and $149 in the high season.  Both have rented for way more days than I thought they would.  Both properties rent out 200 + days per year and have been great investments.  You can check them out on my rental website at Cerritos Mexico unfortninely I can't figure out how to get the calendar working but you can get an idea of what you can get for the price.
