It depends on the client's preference.  Funny, clients don't tend to ask me my preferences, which I think is normal because I'm the service provider.

During a transaction, some clients text me around 6:00 AM and sometimes even earlier.  Other clients have sent texts just shy of midnight.

I know, I need to turn my phone or at least the sound off.

I set those boundaries in the first meeting.  I try my hardest to not EVER call people but if necessary, I would I try to never call prior to 11am.  Mornings and their rituals are sacred!

Agreed, Paul. I was raised not to call anyone who isn't family or very close friend before 9am and after 7pm. This was so ingrained in me, I still can't do it, unless I have a client with whom I've made arrangements to speak outside of those hours. I'm also an early morning person and fully awake and working, but I will admit that I don't want anyone bothering me much before 8:30am by phone.

Paul,

That sounds good to me.  Of course, in my opinion it is best to set up times prior to actually call people.  We have very early risers on the East Coast 6AM, and we are willing to call them at 6 AM our time.  Europe we call at 8AM, and it is 5PM, there.  We work it out.  A

I agree with the 9 o'clock unless you know otherwise.  This helps not only for clients, but for us as well.  I had to set some boundaries so I won't get calls anytime the client chooses to call.  If they know they can reach me at 6 o'clock in the morning, that's not good for me.

Paul S. Henderson, Realtor, Tacoma Washington  great question!

It depends on who I am calling...

I was taught from my early days working at Bear Stearns that business starts at 7 am eastern time. So I have no problem calling business associates and contractors anytime after 7.

That said, most banks and title companies in my area are not in the office until 8:30 or 9 so they may not be able to assist me with answers until they get to the office..... As for customers, those calls will wait until after 8am.
