The Murfreesboro Tennessee homes and real estate market has taken a hit!  Home prices have declined along with the number of homes sold.  Foreclosures and short sales have pulled the market down and negatively impacted the overall value of homes in the area.    Sounds bleak I know.  Add everything together and it is easy to see why people that qualify to buy a home are choosing to rent and afraid to invest in home ownership.  I’ve even heard people tell say that you’d have to be crazy to buy a home in the current market!  And, I absolutely AGREE!     Crazy Like a Fox!     I believe that our current Murfreesboro TN real estate market is at the prime time for individuals to purchase their first home, or consider selling and moving up to their dream home.  Let me give you my top five reaso...

Moving is hard on kids even if you are just moving across town to a new Murfreesboro TN home.  You don’t have to be relocating to Nashville Tennessee from across the country to impact your children.  Parents can get so busy with moving that they don’t notice their kids and how anxious they may be over the move.   Moving means your children will be giving up their familiar surroundings and routines.  You may be excited about a new home, but your child may have a lot of anxiety.  Some moves are because you are doing well and wish to move into a larger home.  But, not all moves are happy ones even for adults.  Moves that are the result of job change, divorce, or possibly even a forced sale due to foreclosure or short sale are even more stressful for children.  Whatever the reason for the m...

Tucked away at the end of Chaffin Place in Murfreesboro TN is HylaBrook Antique Mall.  It is 8,000 square feet filled with booths for over 50 antique dealers.  You never know what you will find when you go!  HylaBrook is full of countless treasures and unique finds.  I felt like I was taking a walk down memory lane when I saw lunch boxes and toys that I had as a child.  There is a story behind every piece that you will find at HylaBrook Mall.  The mall is well maintained and the merchandise is displayed nicely.  I was really impressed with how clean and bright this antique mall was.  It really made for an enjoyable shopping experience.  The booths were all presented nicely, the staff was friendly and I found the prices reasonable. My girls and I decided to finally stop by and try the food at Blue Coast Burrito in Murfreesboro TN on Memorial Blvd close to Clark Avenue and MTSU.  I’ve always been drawn to the cool art work on the side of this “mexican” restaurant, and there is always a parking lot full of cars.  But, for some reason I’ve just never stopped in and just thought it was another mexican restaurant.  I can honestly say that I was SO GLAD I finally made the decision to try Blue Coast Burrito and will definitely be stopping by here regularly!    So, it’s just another taco joint right?  Wrong!  Everything at Blue Coast is made fresh to order while you wait.  You can customize your taco or burrito with black beans, rice, refried beans, cabbage, peppers, the whole nine yards!  They serve Mexican food Baja wes...

Murfreesboro TN residents, make sure and mark your calendars to visit Oakland Historical Museum during October for the Widows, Weepers and Wakes event. Death was a part of every day life during the 19th century.  With a life expectancy of 42 years old, and 3 out of every 20 infants dying before their first birthday, death was a real possibility during the Victorian era.  Mourning the dead during this period was a true art.  Some of the customs might seem macabre to us today and included watching the dead until the actual burial.  But, the rules of mourning were very strict and etiquette had to be followed by the surviving family members or else face social ostracism. Mourning during this era was a structured ritual. The Oaklands Historic Museum, located on North Maney Avenue in Murfrees...

I absolutely loved having babies and was so blessed to be able to stay home with my infants while they were young.  However, I also remember this could be a stressful time & how helpful it was to talk with other new moms.  Lack of funds can also make finding fun things to do while raising small children a real challenge.  That’s why I was so excited to hear about “Strollercoasters!”   Strollercoasters is a group of parents and caregivers that meet every Thursday at 9am at different points along the Murfreesboro Stones River Greenway.  The group meets and then walks together with strollers and children from birth to age 5.  Afterwards, the group allows the older children to play together at one of the playgrounds on the Greenway.  What a great way for parents and kids to get in some heal...

If you are considering selling your Murfreesboro TN home, or real estate in the surrounding area, you need to know the value of your home.   There are many factors that should go into completing an accurate market analysis for your specific home.  Before you can determine your home’s value, a detailed analysis of the following items must be considered:  Size/Square Footage Location Amenities Lot/Acreage Curb Appeal Layout/Floor Plan Condition Age Competition (Absorption Rate) Once these items are factored in, you can determine where to price your home in the current market so that you are in the best position for a fast sell at maximum value.   No matter how hot or cold the real estate market is, there will always be a specific number of homes that will sell in ANY market over a stated ...
