I've been meaning to again visit Wickford Kitchen and Bath at 8194 Post Road Wickford RI 02852 since I met the owner Rob Lovejoy at a Chamber event.  So it was a quick phone call and I was on my way to his local retail kitchen and bath business at its best in hometown North Kingstown, RI (remember Wickford is part of the town of North Kingstown).   Meg Healey, who I've known for years in our past lives as bankers, is Wickford Kitchen and Bath's business manager and is an integral part of the business along with Denise Turner, project manager.  These three design and manage this local North Kingstown retail kitchen and bath business in order to provide the quality products from select manufacturers at affordable prices to clients.  And what a setting to own a business right outside of Wi...

As the hurricane winds of Igor blow strongly from Narragansett Bay into this Bissel Cove neighborhood in North Kingstown RI 02852 it provided me a chance to capture this section outside Wickford (by a Yard) in pictures.  Early morning real estate rounds brought me out to do the usual... radon water testing for a well with an inspector, check on a house rental and head back to the office but not before I captured the morning peacefulness in this hidden cove just 1 mile outside of Wickford, RI.  It’s just off the old Route 1A road as you head south towards the beaches of Narragansett.   But you’ll want to make the stop here at Bissel Cove to see the homes from quaint to Nantucket style with the restive Bissel Cove on one side and the blue gray water of Narragansett Bay on the other side. ...

It was an extremely interesting day yesterday to absorb all there was on well hydrofracture...yes, it was my continuing education hydrofracture journey on wells in a client's backyard.  It was so worth the part of the day spent as this process unfolded!  Definitely could have blown the well company off after opening the house up but I was determined to understand this process of letting the water out of the earth, understanding better the process of 'fracking' and being able to pick the brains of these well guys who've done it for 30 years. Most well guys would be happy you take off so they can get to their work but I have to say that Dean, the technical well man from Laframboise Wells, spent time answering all my queries and questions on it(he told me that he's never had a realtor who w...

The North Kingstown RI 02852 Real Estate Market Statistics for the month of August 2010 for sold properties were as follows:                     4 homes sold for over $400,000                     2 homes sold for between $300,000-$400,000                     2 homes sold for less than $300,000   Overall there were about 216 homes on the market during August 2010 in North Kingstown RI 02852 which was a marginal decrease in the number of homes over the prior month of July 2010( decrease by 11 homes).   The inventory level means buyers have more homes to choose from and be selective about.  Mortgage rates continue to remain at unprecedented low rates for buyers which is a positive sign. The number of homes sold in North Kingstown increased  by 6 to 15 sold in August 2010.   Although the...

It is that time to look at some of my recent sold South County RI houses to get me going  and glowing for the fall real estate market.  My intention is to showcase the recent sold homes so my potential listing clients can see them on my real estate blog presented in a different format.  Just so I can stand out and set myself a bit apart from other Realtors.  This has been my game plan all along this year and as Barbara Todaro wrote in her recent blog, how you position yourself and follow through with marketing and attention to business has to be part of your business plan.  The market here is getting tougher. "Recent Solds to get me Glowing"Create a free slideshow with Picnik! So my marketing postcards are again sent on another Just Pending home, my association with local businesses is ...

The area known as the Poplar Point neighborhood within the town of North Kingstown RI 02852 is within walking distance of the seaside village of Wickford RI.  As I have shared in past blogs, this wonderful Wickford village area has so many great locations to live, play and enjoy along this coastline- that's why people move to this Narragansett Bay town in the first place. The Poplar Point neighborhood is just south of the bridge over Wickford harbor and past the North Kingstown Town Hall.  Off Beach Street, this area is really a peninsula and surrounded by water on 3 sides (Wickford Harbor on one and Narragansett Bay on the other 2 sides).  There is the Wickford boatyard which is established and operates along Steamboat Avenue that runs along the Wickford Harbor side of Poplar Point.  A...

The North Kingstown Bike Path in North Kingstown RI 02852 is being enjoyed by bikers, walkers and rollerbladers every day - I'm thinking it might be the 'Chinese Year of the Foot'!  A 2.5 mile paved 2 lane path that was funded by the Quonset Development Corporation and RI Department of Transportation goes from Post Road and delivers you to Narragansett Bay at the pastoral Calf Pasture Beach (note this is one of my favorite beaches on Narragansett Bay). It's a wonderful meandering and winding bike path with benches along the way as you travel the North Kingstown Bike Path.  If you are to start from the beginning location, you can pull into the Dave's Marketplace Plaza and there you will find plenty of parking.  Once you've set up your bike or laced up your sneakers you are off on a wonde...

Find your little critters at the Critter Hut an Amazing Pet Store- located at 6637 Post Road North Kingstown RI 02852.  Now big kids and little kids always enjoy a pet store- for the big kids it's all the creatures and critters mom and dad wouldn't let you have as a kid but now want for your own kids.  Okay, not always but it's definitely a subconscious thought.  And this pet store is above them all in many ways.                  The original Critter Hut opened in Narragansett RI 02882 in 1976 by the Champlin family (yes, these are original swamp yankee people from South County RI) and the parents still run the Narragansett one.  The son, Jeff Champlin, opened the North Kingstown pet store in 2004 and relocated it last year to 6637 Post Road to get better visibility and traffic for th...

The Fireworks Display Extravaganza in Mount View, North Kingstown RI 02852 on the Fourth of July is extraordinary.  A neighborhood collection and melange of family/friend parties that extends down all the neighborhood side streets to the Mount View beach ( I've written about this little hideaway community in North Kingstown before).  See we have the best seats in the house in Mount View since we have the beach on both sides of the neighborhood that borders our wonderful Narragansett Bay...which means everyone congregates down by the water at some point to watch the fabulous fireworks put on by Quidnesset Country Club as well as all the other communities across the Bay (we are right next door to Quidnesset Country Club).  Yes, all residents can witness a multitude of fourth of july firew...

My North Kingstown RI homes for sale is where i spend my active work life time but interjecting into the boundless energy I have to do my Realtor job are the funny realtor stories that have fortunately been shared with one another.  I have one for you today because we all need a belly laugh daily! This North Kingstown RI realtor has 2 cats both of them have been indoor dwellers for a few years.  Well the realtor really can't explain it but decided that she needed to give them a little freedom so she decided to let them outside!  You know you really can't do that to inside cats if you know cats- they get confused & sometimes run away.  Well these 2 went out timidly, came back in & slowly worked up to staying out for some time.  All to the delight of my friend.  As a side note, I truly th...

Crying Crododile Tears in this Quidnesset North Kingstown RI Neighborhood is not what my day with my client allowed.  Out and about in the lovely neighborhoods off Fletcher Road in North Kingstown RI, viewing the nice homes in Fletcher Meadows, Brookside and Fletcher Estate developments was the menu of the real estate day. To set the tone a bit there are some ponds & low lying areas along Fletcher Road and one might see ducks along the way...or if you are fortunate a hooting owl in the evening.                               Weather was drizzly, lack of sun evident but for true house hunters, it was a good day to explore the Quidnesset neighborhoods the client so wanted to buy in.  Now I'm getting to the good part...my eyes are pretty sharp but Fletcher Road is a winding road at some par...

North Kingstown RI Summer Concert Series    It's that time where the musically inclined in North Kingstown RI present the Summer Concert Series for all ages.   As a member of the community, I am so thankful for the hard work and coordination by the organizers who put this together for us locals every year.  The North Kingstown Arts Council does a phenomenal job every year orchestrating these events and thankfully endowed with local bank funding.  They are outside concert events either at the Wickford Town Dock on Narragansett Bay for the Tuesday Summer Concert Series or at the North Kingstown Town Beach for the Thursday Summer Family Concert Series .   If you haven't heard of it or made the visit to it before, you need to do it this year with friends and family .  It's a blast!  Concert...

The Friends of the Plum Beach Lighthouse restoration project have set the deadline for the first printing of these unique license plates for June 14th so this is the call to order!  As I've talked about this fundraising effort before in another blog - it's local, it's important & it is what good citizens need to do when government can not.  This is part of our local piece of history, the Plum Beach lighthouse, that all visitors to our state see as they pass from North Kingstown RI over the Verazzano/Jamestown bridge toward Newport RI.  Don't wait to order this special license plate but support this grassroots funding project to give a Narragansett Bay lighthouse the designation it deserves in full view (front and back!) on any Rhode Island car.   The state of RI will print your curre...

It's a success story on the true benefit of Brokers Tour and specifically one in North Kingstown, RI.  Now our tried and true method for Brokers Tours encompasses all 'new' on market homes, usually eight homes(no more than that), which a caravan of agents and brokers from all agencies tour to view and discuss. You need to sign your house up by the prior week - first come, first to make it. It not only enables the listing agent to get good, objective feedback to deliver back to the sellers, the tour allows you to get to know and develop a better relationship with your fellow agents.  I for one don't mind the competition, thrive on it and always hope to share something (except my ruby red shoes, perhaps!) with the other agents.  Agents come from other towns and usually we have 25-30 agent...
