Dorothy Elizabeth Blackman was born in California back in 1903.  She attended the Bennett School for Girls in Millbrook, New York, a school in Lausanne, Switzerland and at the Sorbonne.  She was an actress and had a role in Green Grow the Lilacs.  She also performed in several Charlie Chan films.In 1937, she moved to Paris with her future husband Jacques Leyton.  In France she produced and interviewed people on programs for Radio Mondial.  She also was the Voice of America denouncing the Nazi regime.  In 1942, she was arrested by the Nazis, but with the help of French doctors she escaped.  Later that she joined the resistance movement helping 42 downed Allied airmen escape to freedom and hiding others in her home until the war ended.She died in Corona del Mar, California in 1997, she wa... 05/27/2021

If you like to volunteer in community projects and love the outdoors, now is the perfect time to get involved. The parks department is looking for a few good nature loves to assist with the “Get Dirty-Give Back” workshop. This workshop is a series of hands-on outdoor classes that will be held this fall to teach anyone interested the basic skills for trail building.
