Little Egg Harbor home owners at the Jersey Shore are not the only ones frustrated by the strain of rebuilding after Super Storm Sandy. Business owners are being put to the test.  The Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) can not offer loans or grants to businesses, and the Small Business Administration (SBA) loans are not a bargain. Take for example marina owners.  Their season starts in less than 60 days.  But the SBA doesn't consider docks and bulkheads equipment, so they are not covered for loan purposes.Add to those difficulties, the new FEMA Advisory Base Flood Elevations (ABFL) and it leaves some marina owners shaking their heads, and asking for answers.In particular, marina owners say they can't meet ABFL.  Think about it...could you operate a marina 12 feet above t...

A local Marine, Lance Cpl Tyler Anderson was on his way home in Island Heights from the airport when his parents pulled off into a parking lot where there were numerous fire trucks and a Humvee waiting to escort him the rest of way. Locals in Island Heights organized the "parade" for Tyler who had just served 7 months in Afghanistan and was coming home for 30 days of leave before heading to his next permanent duty station at Camp Pendleton in California. ISLAND HEIGHTS - This is the real estate report for single-family homes in February 2010. There are 23.25 months of inventory (months to sell present inventory at present sales rate), 26 active listings with an average list of $835,256 spending an average 171 days on the market. Last month, there were four new listings carrying an average list price of $770,750. The number of new listings for February of last year was the same; however, the average list price was $891,000, indicating a sharp drop in the pricings of new listings over the course of the past year.
