Back in the very early seventies a Moncton civil engineering firm began development on a new subdivision off the Shediac Road as it approaches the Trans Canada Highway and Moncton city limits. The development was named Grove Hamlet and it offered larger lots for upscale homes. At the time the location was far from the Moncton sanitary sewer system so the developer had to install a sewage treatment lagoon. This lagoon remained for more than a decade until a major new trunk sewer line was built to service a growing industrial - commercial park. Then the subdivision was hooked into the trunk sanitary sewer line. Today Gove Hamlet continues to expand with new building lots and new housing.
