  Southern Maryland Real Estate News! Winter 2009! It is almost certain we will look back on this economic cycle as the catalyst for the most significant transfer of wealth in our lifetime. Our retirement accounts have probably lost much of their value. Home values are certainly not what they were. Each of us has a friend or neighbor that has lost a job. Deficit spending has taken on a very brisk pace and is likely to accelerate. There is no question we will see equity and real estate values surpass their previous highs...it's just a matter of time...perhaps a long time. In the short term, what goes up and what goes down will be influenced by spending initiatives as much as by fundamentals. I receive this tonight from Hello Golden Lovers, Mitchell and Margaret Kalloch would like to share the following information from www.peteducation.com. Their very much loved Jake (picture attached) died suddenly and unexpectantly of Leptospirosis even though he was vaccinated. (Lepto is usually included in your dog's distemper vaccination.) Jake was adopted from the rescue in May of this year and was an otherwise happy, healthy boy. Jake died of the autumnalis strain which is carried by mouse urine. Stagnant and slow moving water is a habitat of the virus and we've had a lot of rain lately.  Leptospirosis is caused by exposure to several types of the Leptospira bacteria, which can be found in fresh water that has been contaminated by animal urine. Golden Retriever Rescue of Southern Maryland is a non-profit 501(3)(c) all volunteer organization dedicated to finding homes for golden retrievers in need in St. Mary's, Calvert and Charles counties.
