  Purdue University Memorial Mall    Tree Toppers     The Purdue University Memorial Mall in West Lafayette is just west of the two most visited buildings by students:  The Purdue Memorial Union and the Library.  The Memorial Mall is a wonderful green space for students to study or relax in the sun or shade amid the beauty of the carefully manicured grounds.     Purdue University Pao Hall of Visual and Performing Arts   Silver Bow   Silver Bow is an equine statue made of vines and is located at the south east portion of the Pao Hall of Visual and Performing Arts.  This work of art appears to be grazing on native grass, and is located just east of the Brickhead Conversations works of art.   08/04/2014

    Purdue University Pao Hall Brickhead Conversations   On the south entrance to the Pao Hall of Visual and Performing Arts Center at the Purdue University Campus is a striking pair of masonry statues titled, BRICKHEAD CONVERSATIONS.  They are separated by a small plaza encircled with limestone bench seating and when you get close to the statues you can hear the sound of BIRDS chirping inside the brickheads.   Golly, is the artist saying that we are birdbrains????   Disclosure:  The author of this blog did NOT major in art at Purdue University so absolutely ignore any attempts at artistic interpretations made here in this post.  (What do you expect from  someone who earned majors and minors in:  US History, Health Eductation, Physical Education, Economics, and Drivers Education???)   I... 08/03/2014

    Purdue University Brickhead Conversations   On the south side of the Pao Hall of Visual and Performing Arts Building is a very interesting work of art called "Brickhead Conversations".  It is quite striking.    As you sit down around the brickhead on the limestone seating you hear sounds.   You look around in the trees and then the ornamental grass.     You hear the sound again but it is not coming from the trees as you would expect, the sounds are coming from within the work of art.   Then you realize that the sound of chirping birds is coming within the brick head.     Tomorrow I will show who the Brickhead is conversing with.   Do you feel like you are banging your head against a brick wall trying to find a West Lafayette home for sale near Purdue University for your son or daugh... 08/02/2014
