My fondest memory of Stacy's Taven has nothing to do with the actual location. As a child, I asked my father if he would take me to Stacy's Taven one day. He looked at me confused and replied that he didn't think a tavern was an appropriate place to bring an eight year old girl. And to some extent, he's right, but Stacy's Taven isn't your ordinary tavern.In 1846, Moses and Joann Stacy, along with their two children, Kimball and Philo, settled in Glen Ellyn (then Danby Woods). Their home served as an inn along Geneva and St. Charles road to stage coach travelers going between Chicago and Galena.It cost .50 to stay the night, have two meals and hay for the horses.
