There are still a surprising number of newly constructed homes, or homes under or about to start construction in the Barrington area. Lake Barrington: Tallgrass is a new subdivision off Kelsey Rd being built by Michael Graft. Lots are 1 acre or more and the subdivision is on both sides of the road. It is going to be a gated community. Currently available is a ranch home and most homes are expected to be $1 million to $2 million plus. Close by is another small new subdivision called Walnut Grove on which about 6 new homes are being constructed on the left side of Kelsey Rd. Prices here are around $1.2 million and lot sizes are 1 acre. South Barrington: The Woods of South Barrington still has homes available in the adult gated community. Village Roadshow Gold Class Cinemas of Austrailia is opening their first U.S. theater in the new Arboretum of South Barrington Shopping Center. Other locations around the U.S. are to follow. Each theater features 40 reclining armchair seats with footrests, digital projection and the capability to screen 2-D and 3-D movies, as well as a lounge and bar serving cocktails and appetizers, a concierge service and valet parking. Food and beverage such as Sushi and Dom Periginon Champagne is extra; valet parking fee is included in  the ticket price - which will be a whopping $35 per ticket.   Apparently - the Australian company doesn't feel that there is a recession in the US - and that people will pay 35 bucks a ticket for the "extras."  I still see a lot of people eating out - so I wonder abo...

Short Sales Available in Barrington Real Estate Market There are currently 19 residential properties for sale in the Barrington area that are marked as either short sales or possible short sales. There are 4 attached homes-either condos or townhomes and the prices range from $181,900 to $299,900. There is one vacant lot in Barrington Hills for $899,900, it is a 6 acre lot. I am pleased to say my husband has endured his spinal fusion surgery like a trooper. Tuesday was surgery day and after 11.5 hours in recovery he finally got a bed. No complications from the surgery just logistics in the hospital getting a bed for him. After 2 days of practice walking, getting pain under control and the usual hospital stuff he is glad to be home. However he has experienced an unusual and thoroughly irritating side effect, or at least we think it is a side effect of the anesthesia. Hiccups.Starting the day after surgery at 4 am in the morning, so Wednesday; now it is Friday and we are still going strong. It was 18 hours before he has a brief rest and we think the med they gave him helped a little. However it made him very sleepy. So now we have tried every known trick ion...

Where and When On Sunday October 5th in the grounds of The Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, between the hours of 11am and 3pm. In support of both Breast Cancer and Northern Illinois Samoyed Assistance, you can take a walk around the Good Shepherd walking trail, and visit local vendors. Event will take place come rain or shine. The walking trail is 0.6 miles long and set in the grounds at the front of the hospital and around the pond. There are established trees, the trail meanders and the fountain is still working. All in all it is a great place to walk with proceeds going to 2 very good causes. September 30th 2008-Today was the day I had to go to court as a witness in my role as a Realtor. Now this could be interesting, something we Realtors do not do daily.  Back in May 2007 I was asked for my opinion as to the rental rates for a property in my home town. The requestor found me as a result of my web site which is targeted specifically at my market area. At the time I was not really sure why they made the request but as the beneficiary of the estate there was no reason not to give it. So I did the usual research, came up with the range and sent it via cyberspace. Without hesitation any buyer should have a professional home inspection carried out before they buy a home. But what about sellers? I am sure many will say, but the buyer will get one why should I bother?  Well with the marketing time we are experiencing right now, you may well wait 10 or more months to get an offer to purchase your home. Art in the Barn started in 1975.  The first show had 30 artists & craftsmen and now has grown to 185.  The attendance has grown to 7500 people in 2007 from Barrington, surrounding communities some including, Deer Park, Lake Zurich, Long Grove and surrounding states.  It all started with ten women, craftsmen and artists that wanted to raise money for Good Sheperd Hospital and bring a high quality art event to our area.
