The 11th Annual Oakhurst Arts & Music Festival is just around the corner!  On Saturday, October 11th  the Oakhurst festival will kick off with the Oakhurst Fun Run and then the festival will take place in the center of the Oakhurst community in Harmony Park (at the intersection of Oakview & East Lake Drive).  The Festival seems to get bigger and better each year.  There will be a parade, 50+ local artists, a community information area with local non-profit groups, an activty area for the kids, and live music -- Eight different groups are scheduled to play throughout the day.  The festival starts at 10 am on Saturday and ends at 7 pm.  After that, be sure to head over for some great food and beverages at one of Oakhurst's many restaurants, such as the Universal Joint, Mojos, Kavarna, Pa... 09/15/2008

Did you know that the City of Decatur, GA has created 6 Informative Walking Tours?  They range from easy 1 mile to what they call challenging 4 mile.  I did the "challenging" 4 mile with my Dad who is in his mid 60's the other day.  The temperature was in the upper 80's so it was kind of hot out.  It is pretty level walking and we managed it just fine.  But, just for fun we stopped for dinner in between at Tesoro the new Mexican restaurant next to Twains at the end of Church St. in Decatur.  We did Tour #3 which they call Sycamore and More.  I actually learned something about Decatur, although I've lived here 12 years.  The first 2 story house ever built in Decatur was in 1830. If you haven't been to a Concert on the Square in Decatur, GA now is the time to get out and enjoy these free events.  The concerts are played at the center of the Square in the Gazebo behind the old Courthouse.  Bring your blankets and a cooler and just relax. Concerts are every Saturday night in May and September from 7-9:30 pm.  Stick around after the show and visit one of the many local pubs and restaurants.  Or get some food to go and enjoy it on the lawn.  These events are just another reason why Decatur, GA is a great place to live, work and play. Atlanta has so many quaint neighborhoods that feature small older homes offering nostalgic appeal.  Of course, the main draw for many of these neighborhoods, however, is location, location, location! Well it's Sunday and it's cold, dreary and raining. Keith and I are starving and tired of the same old, same old. Where to eat????? We start the typical "Where do you want to go?" "I don't know. Where do you want to go?" rountine. This is a routine that is very frustrating to me. I will name a place and Keith will say no. (You know he is a food snob, right?) So we are driving around Decatur looking for something new. After driving past The Depeaux thousands of times in the past year or so we decide today is the day we go for it.  The Depeaux is located in the 100+ year old train depot. Oakhurst - Decatur Real Estate You hear the horror stories on the evening news.  What is really happening in your neighborhood?  First of all, the Oakhurst market data for 2007 was VERY promising.  Homes on average were only on the market for 69 days, up just slightly from 59 days in 2006.
