We get so busy at times and somehow for some families; their home get lost (and neglected) in all the business of life. This family called me right before their youngest was about to graduate high school and the wife had moved ahead to start a new job. The husband was left with getting the house ready for sale so they could join her.... On my first visit this is how I found their family room:     After: I think it was a dramatic change.  I have to say this job was most gratifying.

Best Attorney at Law in South Windsor, Judith Paquin.    Attorney Judy Paquin has been a solo, general practice attorney for over 20 years.  Her office is in South Windsor, 1738 Ellington Rd, (860) 644-3500, where she works with paralegal Tammy Rose Minnich, a South Windsor native.    Attorney Paquin practices bankruptcy, family, probate and real estate law.  Attorney Paquin enjoys meeting new people and takes great satisfaction in helping out clients who find themselves in a difficult position.      Bankruptcy and foreclosure are quite common these days unfortunately.  With so many finding themselves unemployed as companies cut back due to the economy, people are unable to afford the mortgages that they had grown accustomed to paying.  Most often in bankruptcy people are able to keep ...

South Windsor CT real estate sales during 2011 showed a fairly typical picture of the ups and downs of the market.  As was the case with many towns in Connecticut, South Windsor's closed sales and median price were down from the previous year.  In 2011, there were 195 closed sales compared to 202 closed sales in 2010; the median price was $254,900 in 2011 vs. $274,450 in 2010.  So closed sales were down 3.47% while median price was down 7.12%. If we look at the average price ($294,398 in 2011 vs. $296,397 in 2010), the difference was .8%.  Why consider both median and average prices? The median price simply places all the values in order and selects the one in the middle, whereas the average takes the numerical average.  One high-priced home will bring up the average significantly, but ...

Yes, it is finally here!!! My all-you-can-eat chocolate day J  Happy Valentine’s day, Everybody! Thanks to my wonderful husband and my amazing sons, Nikita and Andrei, for lavishing chocolate candies and flowers on me!   "Love is missing someone whenever you're apart, but somehow feeling warm inside because you're close in heart." Kay Knudsen   Saint Valentine's Day, better known as simply Valentine's Day, is the annual commemoration of love celebrated on February 14. Valentine's Day was created by Pope Gelasius I in 500 AD to honor the Christian martyrs named Valentine. The religious observance of the day was deleted by Pope Paul VI from the Roman calendar of saints in 1969 but is still often permitted. Valentine's Day was first related to romantic love by Geoffrey Chaucer during the ...

Oh the feeling!! You can’t escape this Super Bowl fever.   I have to admit, I am not a football fanatic, I am a football-ambivalent wife/mother/friend J I watched exactly zero hours and zero minutes of NFL action this year. But I can’t ignore the excitement everybody, including me, is having today. Only mine is related more to a get-together-eat-a-lot kind of thing. I will watch the Super Bowl for one, and only one reason, just to find out who will come up on top: Brady, or Eli?   And of course, commercials. Madonna (are you kidding me?) still looks the same... I remember dancing to her hits when I was a school girl! What potion is she on? Please share with me. J    My husband found this wonderful article in Wall Street Journal newspaper. IT IS EXTREMELY FUNNY, trust me. THE 21 RULES ...

Throughout the years I have done a lot of interior design projects. It started as a hobby first, but later, when my friends saw my designs they started referring me to their friends and their family members...    Nowadays, being busy with real estate, I don’t have much time to do “fun stuff”. But still, I receive phone calls from my ex-customers who are “just wondering, if I can do one more project for them”. Of course, I manage (as always) to fit it into my crazy schedule. My husband is making a joke sometimes; he says that I learned how to clone myself J    Nothing is more satisfying then happy client after all! And I’ve made one more client happy today. I helped Lydia decorate her home.  She loved the drapes and pillows I made for her. Thank you Lydia, for being my return customer...

December's Season of Celebrations and Sharing ~ Gingerbread Festival in South Windsor CT     I had a chance to visit the Gingerbread Festival at Wood Memorial Library in South Windsor CT.  The wonderful smell of gingerbread overtakes you as soon as you walk in the front door.  What a fun event!  There are over 50 gingerbread houses built by various businesses, groups, clubs, and individuals (both adults and children).   There were replicas of the Wadsworth Atheneum, the East Windsor Hill Post Office, a Victorian house, as well as many whimsical pieces.  I think my favorite was the old post office, but many of them had an amazing amount of detail, from frosted windows to curtains to landscaping.     The event began November 28 and runs through December 15.  On December 15, many of the gi...
