Our temps this morning were in the low 40's and the trees are starting to show signs of changing colors.  It was a perfect fall morning and the walk we took was most pleasant with an occasional stop to admire the scenery and do some movement with my arms and legs. It won't be long before the leaves make their transformation and fall, and the days will seem dull and dreary. A Perfect Early Fall Day in Central CT   Just Right for a Walk

You Don't Worry Until I tell You ToI am working with a couple that are trying to buy their first home. A expected there are a lot of questions and with each answer additional questions arise.  It's understandable that they would be concerned, but with the process of buying a home, anticipating a problem is not the way to make it flow smoothly.Yes there is the anxiety of looking for a home. Buyers want a lot, often well beyond their financial abilities. They will ask to see homes that are too expensive for them in the hope that they can lowball the sellers and come away with a steal,  thinking the sellers will have a bit of pity and just give their home way.  That almost never happens.  Needless anxiety. We will find the home appropriate for their means and hopefully get a contract that a...

After 50 years of a happy life, it was time for these sellers to put the house on the market to move to a retirement home. The only real estate agent they had every worked with was Ed Silva of RE/Max Professionals.  They were understandably nervous and had a lot of questions regarding the listing, marketing and sale of the house. They also needed assurances along the way that the buyer was doing all they could to close their mortgage process.   They were the ideal clients, as they recognized all that was presented regarding the condition of the home and the listing process.  Once the closing date was given, the trucks were loaded, the cars shipped to their new home in South Carolina and once all was signed off, they said good by to Connecticut and started on their next geat adventure. F...

Every Day is a Gift, Appreciate ThemAs adults we have a focus to maintain a lifestyle that would be comfortable for ourselves and our families. That particular degree of comfort is varied based upon drive, abilities and individual goals. The idea of getting a pile to live on and support ourselves in the future is constantly within.  Seldom do we take the time to appreciate the current state of our existence.Success is a wonderful thing and with success can often come great happiness, provided we take the time to smell the roses. Our lives should be lived such that we can know we are reaching our final time and have a sense of 'so what'. No one should go through life and come to a thought that it passed them by and spend their final moments thinking 'if only".Live and enjoy the days avai...

The Anniversary of the Day that Changed our Way of Life Sept 11, 2016Today is the 15th anniversary of the terrorist attacks that changed our way of life forever. It was a day that brought our country into the reality of life as so many other parts of the world live, with the threat of an enemy, intent on our destruction and fueled with hate. With a well thought and financed plan of attack, some religious fanatics managed to bring the most powerful country on the earth to a halt. The isolation we enjoyed for years was no longer capable of keeping us safe. With the actions of the hijackers that took place well coordinated and within 60 minutes we lost put entire transportation  system, and a media blackout of essential services that would last for a few long days. What was also rekindles wa...

The Crops Are Ready to Be PickedWe are into September and gardens are into their harvest mode. I have not had a garden in over 40 years but this year my wife asked me to put in a herb garden for her. So I cleared an area, bought enough wood to make a raised bed planter, got only the best topsoil, and put it a together. As there was a bit of space, I also dropped in a couple of tomato plants as well. As I also had other things to do, this only came together towards the end of June.Well, it's harvest time. The herbs have been dong their thing all summer but finally the red fruit is starting to arrive.  As I looked out there today, the first of the tomato was showing its color.Who needs the buy them at a farmer's stand when you can grow your own.Lumber       $  40.00 Loam          $  90.00 ...

As I walked along the front yard, I noticed the first blooms of the gladiolas.  They are a vertical stack of color and their colors are vibrant. There are several more plants in the grouping and they should blossom by the end of the week.  Summer colors are special and bring so much joy to the eyes. Gladtoknowya  Summer Flowers

We are into the eat of the summer with temperatures approaching 90+ , but as I make my way up my driveway, I have a flurry of colors as the lilies wave at me.  The driveway is long, but along one side is a garden filled with day lilies of all varieties, and it just seems that we have had just enough rain to bring out the colors as well as the differences. And the last lily is just a transplant from a past present that was given to my wife and somehow managed to survive a few winters. The Colors Waving as I Pass on my Way Home

Safe Under Ground Oil Storage Removal  In the '70's and '80's it was not uncommon in New England, for people putting up larger homes to have bulk oil storage tanks installed outside, underground. This was thought to be more cost effective and to lessen the possibility of running out of fuel. In spite of the preparations to the outsides of the tanks, over time, moisture in the ground as well as condensation inside the tanks cause them to erode and let the oil leak out and contaminate the ground. As this s environmentally dangerous the tanks should be removed before they deteriorate. It must also be addressed before the home owner considers selling their new home as lenders will not assume the risk to the mortgage with an in-ground tank, as well as insurance companies that issue home owne...

A Day at Fenway Park Boston MA I was fortunate as a kid to have attended baseball games at both Fenway Park in Boston as well as Yankee Stadium in New York City. We went as part of a Little League adventure. This would have to have been in the mid to late 1950's and aside from remembering who was playing the home teams, it was a day of remembrance to just have been there. This past Sunday, May 29 was a day that we took the youngest grandson, Raphael, to Fenway Park.  It was a game between Boston and the Toronto Blue Jays.  His team of choice, much to my chagrin was the team in Blue as it's his favorite color.Yawkey Way outside the park is a vendors haven with shops selling souvenirs as well as food and even street entertainers amusing the early arriving crowd. Our boy was ready for batti...

We are into the full bloom of summer and it is so soft on the eyes. As I was finishing the lawn, I just had to stop to see the colors of the yard shining brightly. The way up the driveway has the day lilies and iris, a contrast in orange and blue.Th azaleas are past bloom and we enjoyed the reds, pinks, and the white colors.   The rhododendrons are starting to come out  The pinks are always the first and then the whites will follow. Our colors will be there for the next few weeks and then the next group of blossoms will take over. Color, Color Everywhere  Oh What A Sight to See
