If you are in the area of Foothill and San Antonio in Upland, check out Sergio's Mexican Restaurant. It is a great Mexican restaurant that features a varied menu with all of the traditional and Baja style entrees, their special offerings like the "Laura's Spacial" are wonderful.  The Laura's special features a fire roasted pasilla Chile stuffed with grilled chicken then it is covered with pork green sauce, Chile verde for you traditionalists, and cheese, if that did not make you want to go you must be dead. The atmosphere is a laid back and they serve beer, a Mexican meal is not the same without a Pacifico.  They are just East of the 24 Hour Fitness in a part of the corner strip mall that is tucked away behind the Jack In A Box.Located at 657 W. Foothill Blvd, at the corner of San Anton...

No matter what the market, people will continue to desire to live in Upland, as it remains one of the most prestigious cities within San Bernardino County. Comparatively speaking, the Upland housing market continues to outpace the bulk of cities in the San Bernardino County. In of December 2007, 28 single family homes and a total of 3 condos/townhomes entered escrow, up 18 sales from last month, this is real good news.  Total sales are down 60.2% for the same period last year and 28.4% from last month's sales in the Inland Valley MLS, keep in mind that some of this is seasonal trends coming into play.My overall view of the market is still slipping, Click Here to view an article about the market conditions of the Inland Empire.Closed Sales For December 2007: Down by 11 from Last Month11 ...

Upland is the home to the largest privately owned airport in the US.Cable Airport was founded in 1945 by the Cable family, who bought the land for $8,500. The first runway, 1-19, built by Dewey Cable himself, was 1,500 feet long. It ran north-south, perpendicular to the prevailing winds, and had a steep gradient. The main runway, 6-24, was completed six months later. Unlike the first runway, it ran east-west (parallel to the wind, which is ideal), had a hard, flat surface, and by 1947 was 2,350 feet long and 150 feet wide.Cable Airport is still owned by the Cable family. Based on number of aircraft based at the field (450), it ranks as the largest privately-owned airport in the world.Today Cable Airport covers an area of 95 acres which contains one runway (6/24) measuring 3,864 x 75 ft....

Short sales - often called "pre-foreclosure" in listings - continue to drive the market down, but the effect is exaggerated by sellers who advertise a very low price to get attention and leave it to the lender to counter offers with a higher, more realistic price. They are called short sales because the seller actually owes more than he expects to receive from the sale. In order to complete a transaction, the lender must either accept less than what is owed or proceed with foreclosure and essentially "repossess" the house. A lender often agrees to a short sale because writing off a portion of the balance owed would be a better option than taking possession of the house and then having the expense of maintaining it, without receiving any payments, until a buyer can found. By the way, a se...

For over 55 years a 30 foot star has lit bright from Thanksgiving through Christmas from its perch in the hills above the end of Euclid Avenue in Upland. I have been a resident of Upland for just over five years and my family and I have grown very fond of the star just as I know everyone that sees it must have. The last few years brought many challenges to the star, in October 2003, wild fires almost knocked it out but the owner, Ken Petschow, with the help of friends and supporters were able to get the star back in working order.  Ken did not have as much luck with his home which was completely destroyed in the wild fires, it has yet to be rebuilt.  In 2006 vandals were successful in knocking the star out for the holiday season, due to the recent price increases of copper vandals have b...

"You listen to the news and it seems like everyone is moving out of California or losing their house" to foreclosure, said a friend. "It's really a small percentage of homes that are for sale now," I retorted, and we went for a drive. You know what happened. On some streets in every city, there were a number of houses for sale. But on those same streets, a larger number of homes were NOT for sale. My curiosity was piqued, however, so I went in search of statistics showing just how households there are in the cities in my service area. On Board, a real estate information company, says there are 27,900 households in the city of Upland. That includes apartments as well as homes, condominiums and town homes.  (If you're curious too, you can find the number of households On Board reports in ...

Thanksgiving and the shopping sprint that followed may have dampened the enthusiasm of some home shoppers, but those determined to change addresses before the end of the year continued to seek out "open house" signs and followed flags into new developments. In Upland, four homes closed escrow and two homes entered escrow during the week ending Nov. 25, the Inland Multi-Regional Multiple Listing Service reported. The MLS said 24 new listings were added for a total inventory of 421 homes on Nov. 26, including 300 single-family homes with no monthly fees and 121 condominiums, townhomes and single-family homes in associations.
