Then get ready for the Friday opening of the beachside Moro Campground at Crystal Cove State Park, near Laguna Beach's northern border, just south of Coast Highway. The campground features 60 overnight campsites and 200 day-use parking spaces, perfect for hikers wanting to access Crystal Cove's rough interior. Yep, this is indeed the same campground built on the site of the now-bulldozed El Morro Village trailer park, the residents of which for decades had vigorously protested the campground's development. Hey, at least the land wasn't turned into another McMegaresort for the uber-rich. Can you believe it once was proposed that it become a low-income housing, in which the region still sorely needs. I am just not sure the ocean front property should be it. Personally. If you want to che...

Pending Home Sales Turn Around in May Pending home sales rose strongly in May with all regions experiencing gains from a year ago, pointing to higher housing activity in the second half of the year, according to the National Association of REALTORS®.The Pending Home Sales Index rose 8.2 percent to 88.8 in May from an upwardly revised 82.1 in April and is 13.4 percent higher than the 78.3 reading in May 2010. The data reflects contracts but not closings, which normally occur with a lag time of one or two months. This is the first time since April 2010 that contract activity was above year-ago levels, and the monthly gain was the strongest increase since last November when the index rose 10.6 percent. Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist, said the improvement bodes well for home prices. “Abso...

This is the reason I still live in CA after 17 years.... I absolutely love Crystal Cove and this was a walk on the beach right before dinner at the BeachCombers... So nice to park across the street and take the shuttle over for $1- and sink your toes into the sand along the beach while waiting for your dinner reservations... ;) Then, you got your exercise in..... (I know it's Monday and you are just getting this.... It was a long day today.......) ENJOY YOUR WEEK!

The "What's Happening Now?" Metz Report.  Today, June 16, 2011, I am discussing the positive signs we are seeing on the ground.  Newspapers still have a bunch of doom and gloom, national as well as local.  However, that isn't the story for everyone.  The Newport Ridge area market has made some significant shifts in the past few weeks.  I discuss the simple reasons for this, simple economics sparked by a few factors.  For questions, call Conrad Metz at 949-735-9014ConradMetz@Gmail.comwww.NewportBeachMetzProperties.com

With 3.2 miles of sandy beach and 2,400 acres of undeveloped land, Crystal Cove is a perfect area for anyone. No Name Ridge-Hiking Trail in Crystal Cove, Ca.   This trail is located at Crystal Cove, which is between Newport Beach, Ca. and Laguna Beach, Ca. This trail is a 3.58 mile trail, round trip, with rolling hills, ocean views, wildflowers, grassland, etc. Difficulty I would say is about moderate. If you take the Ocean view trail, which is a 1.6 mile hike, best time to go is during the spring because of all the wild flowers. Any other time might prove to be disappointing due to the luxury development that is going on. Because this trail is very open and a mostly tree less country side, I would suggest a hat and sunscreen and bring lots of water, and watch out for snakes... (Saw a snake skin on this trail once and I was pretty freaked out)..

Don't miss out on important tax deductions that can bring savings to you this tax season. You undoubtedly know about business-related tax deductions for your car expenses and home telephone expenses (such as long-distance phone calls and special phone services you use for business), but how about some of those lesser known tax deductions? Here are five that tax expert and author Stephen Fishman recently highlighted at Inman News. 1. Business gifts: Gifts you purchase for your customers are deductible as a business expense. The deduction is limited to $25 per person per year. Company-wide gifts, however, are deductible in any reasonable amount.2.
