A better question would be " how many of your life long friends continued to be your friend after they were your clients?" Sometimes life long friends are like family and need I say more about wirking with or for family !
A very small percentage of my clients have become close friends. A low percentage of my personal friends become clients but they are good for referrals.
About 75% of my clients have become great friends but maybe about 25% of my friends have become clients. Many of my friends do not need my service. I guess I need to find new friends :)

Gary - I certainly have a lot more clients who have become lifelong friends, than lifelong friends who have become clients.
For some reason, many friends (relatives included) do not want to do business with their personal friends, although I have helped out a few.
Many of my clients become friends and many of my friends become clients (but I respect the fact that sometimes friends are better as friends and not clients).
I do not want customers as lifelong friends or any kind of friends. I have only sold 1 property to an acquaintance from up north then made the decision that 1 was the only number I would ever do.
Many of my clients have become acquaintenances who I keep in touch with.
