I am humbled that all of you took the time to leave a true response. My feet are planted in EXACTLY the same spot as all of yours. In essence you each state "What's in it for me!"  I agree with you, the next 'shiny thing' is not the Next Big Thing.  The NBT actually SOLVES a problem.

What problem in your business needs to be solved?
I don't want to bias the response but ask for that which we must all understand if we are to propel our business forward.

Spotting the NBT is the difference in acting and reacting.

The challenge facing real estate professionals is creating the 'next' value the consumer believes to be of value to them.

What is the real question they are asking?

They don't like Zillow. So what are they asking? Could that question point to the NBT?

Hi Annette Lawrence , Palm Harbor, FL 727-420-4041 .When I was an active agent, I wasn't necessarily looking for the NBT, but I was always on the lookout for the NBE... Next Big Edge.  I was one of the first in my town to, personally, have a Fax, to have email, to have a cell phone...and the first to blog.  Always looking for getting the EDGE.  Those things did turn into Big Things, but that wasn't my focus.   Now, as a semi-retired consultant I just use what is most effective to keep me connected and get done what I want to get done.  Don't need a Big Edge anymore.

I'm usually a wait and see person.  There are too many people out there that are opportunists.

I tend to like being on the leading edge and am not afraid to be the adventurer and to find out. So I am always looking and thinking and watching for an opening.

If the NBT fit into my business plan or I could incorporate it then I would jump on it. If not, I would decide if I had enough resources to do both and pending that evaluation, decide.

Deciding on whether something will really be the NBT or just another flashy idea with no legs is the crucial part of your question, Annette.

If I were sure it was really the NBT, I would jump on it.

Annette,

It depends, on the NBT, and there is one coming out of the woodworks every other minute.  It has to make sense to my biz and my strategy!  A

It depends Annette Lawrence ... if you are not already executing the existing foundational practices with perfection then it wouldn't matter if it's the NBT or not. It's always worth exploring but never worth sacrificing what you already do while you vet the NBT. It has to add to what you are already doing as far as I am concerned. I'd rather not get a big head start and just execute on whatever platform or strategy the NBT is ... better than my competition when I get there.
