Friday Flags A Final Half Mast Flag in Prospect CTJust off the center of the town is a manmade lake, called McGrath Pond. and earlier in the day I went by to see someone fishing well off the bank.  The flag on the pole adjacent to the pond monument was still at half-mast also and while the wind was blowing it was not that strong and this pond is sheltered, but I still managed to get a decent shot.It surely looks like winter and not the most hospitable area but the flag still managed to bring a pause for me to stop and a smile on my face.Friday Flags A Final Half Mast Flag in Prospect CT

January Challenge…Back to Books Something very near and dear to me is reading.  Briefly…when I tested recently released inmates many moons ago, I had to administer a reading level test.  Many of those I tested could not read at the 3rd grade level.  To take the MMPI, they listened to a recording of the test questions, which took 2 or 3 times longer to take. How can you get through life if you can’t read??Books have always been important to me. When I was a young girl, I’d pull a random volume of the Encyclopedia Britannica from the bookshelf and open it to any page to read.  There is always a list of books in my queue at Amazon or on my phone that I plan on reading.  As well, I have books by my bed and in my office in various stages of having been read. However, what has occurred over t...

The age-old questions of self-doubt and reflection! It's completely normal to ask ourselves "Should I or shouldn't I?" and "Did I do the right thing?" These questions are a natural part of our decision-making process and can help us grow and learn from our experiences. In fact, research suggests that engaging in reflective thinking, like asking ourselves these kinds of questions, can have several benefits, including: Improved decision-making: Reflecting on our choices can help us identify patterns, biases, and areas for improvement. Increased self-awareness: Examining our thoughts, feelings, and actions can give us a deeper understanding of ourselves and our motivations. Tuesday’s Treasures…They Put a Smile On My FaceLarry and I went out this past Sunday to Meyer Park, where we walk on Sundays. During soccer season, we often see five or more games being played on the various fields. Our paths take us on the edge of the fields. We looked for one of our friends…Mr. No Tail…a friendly squirrel we met several months ago. After our first meeting, where a few peanuts were proffered, Mr. No Tail managed to find us when we came to walk.  And…on our walk earlier this weekend, eagle-eyed Larry spotted half-a-dozen deer across the creek. These beautiful creatures always catch our attention. And, because of their excellent senses of smell, hearing and sight we remained motionless and said nothing. They were beautiful to watch and yes, we saw them watching us.      ...

Your purpose can be as simple as living each day with kindness, helping others, or becoming the best version of yourself. As you discover your purpose, trust that it will often come from serving others and making a difference in their lives.    “The purpose of life is not just to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived. This is what makes you happy”— a revision of a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson Dear Michelle, As I reflect on life’s journey, in this letter I want to share a few thoughts with you about four powerful words that have guided me through its twists and turns: Perseverance, Passion, Purpose, and Perspective. Life isn’t always easy, and that’s okay. The challenges you face are not meant to break yo...

Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go. - T. S. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. - Steve JobsHave the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right.
