My dad grew up in the South. Near Meridian Mississippi. Because of him, even though I grew up in San Diego, when I get tired or sick, I speak with a Southern accent. My grandma would cook me rabbit for lunch (which she killed that morning) and serve it with sweet tea. I learned that RC Cola and a Moon Pie is an acceptable meal. And y’all is a term you hear from people that care about you. But for those that aren’t aware of what it is like to be Southern, take a gander (take a look) at some of these:

Wordless Wednesday…Creativity and Cars! A few years ago, Larry and I saw a car that was all “decked out.” There were trolls and every other tchotchke imaginable on it.  The owner planned on entering it in the annual Houston Art Car Parade. Last week, we saw another fun car at Kickerillo!  I’ll bet it’s headed for the…  38th Annual Houston Art Car Parade and Festival! April 10-13, 2025The parade is on April 12 at 2 PMAllen Parkway & Downtown Houston Creativity takes courage.Henri Matisse

What's wrong with this photo! I asked for a lady real estate lady named Anna Banana going down a rabbit hole and this is what popped up!  And that my friends about sums up this morning!   Except I should add a few more rabbits popping out of the hole!  At least I'm laughing about it all, now.Just this morning we've had about 5 different companies here - 4 of them dealing with the kitchen repair and rebuild.  First one came to take yet more 'moisture' tests.  And all is going well with that, thankfully.  2nd person showed up to talk about the asbestos remediation. 3rd person came to measure for the re-build on cabinets. And honestly I don't recall what the last one was here for!   Some other little detail that needed to be handled.  All that was going on while our landscapers were outsid...

February Challenge-What I Loved About Home Staging When we were looking for homes in Northern VA, I couldn’t believe how some of the homes we viewed were prepared…or rather unprepared for buyers.  One day Larry told me about something called Home Staging. He worked for large home building companies and they always had their models furnished/staged.  One of the sales consultants who worked for him told him his relative was taking a course in Arlington VA..  The course was offered by Barb Schwarz who is known as the “creator of Home Staging. And, that was that! Well…not quite. In 2007, many had not heard of home staging…even agents. It was a struggle because of this and because, if you’ll recall, the housing market tanked. Many sellers wanted to wait to see if their home would sell and/or...

In the You Can't Make This Stuff Up Catagory:You've most likely heard, BUT in case you haven't...The animal rights group, known as, PETA, once again, has a problem with the folks from Goobler's Knob, PA. They say Punxsutawney Phil, the famous weather-predicting groundhog, is being exploited! I'm not kidding you, thus, I'm sharing the story with you, penned by Kendaa Tietz. See below PETA is proposing a "weather reveal" cake in place of groundhog Punxsutawney Phil on Groundhog Day this year. The organization, known for its animal advocacy, believes that Phil is being exploited on the annual winter holiday. In response, they sent a letter to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, asking them to let Phil retire ahead of this year's celebration on February 2. Instead of Phil, PETA has offered to ...

History, Fiction and One Woman’s Hidden Truth - Why The Personal Librarian is a Must-ReadA Book ReviewThere’s something magical about getting lost in a good book—especially historical fiction—at least for me! While history alone can often feel a bit dry (let’s be honest, a long list of dates and events isn’t exactly thrilling!), adding a layer of fiction brings it to life in a way that’s captivating, emotional and unforgettable. I love stepping into different time periods, seeing the world through the eyes of remarkable characters and experiencing the triumphs and struggles of the past with a fresh perspective. Historical fiction doesn’t just tell us what happened—it makes us feel it - and that’s what keeps me turning the pages long into the night! So, if you love historical fiction wit...

Punxsutawney Phil's Official Weather ForecastUsually the Groundhog Day shadow casting event is a quick out, then back in affair but an early hour press conference was called. I had the pleasure of interviewing Punxutawney Phil this morning.  Here are some of the questions posed:  ❔ "What did you have for breakfast?"    Phil: "Gourmet dandelion greens, with a side of freshly dug earthworm." ❔ "Care to give us your take on global warming?"     Phil: "One minute it's winter, the next, it's spring! It's easy to predict the 4 seasons." ❔ "What do you do if you don't see your shadow?     Phil: "No shadow? I'll be doing some serious burrow spring cleaning. ❔ "Do you have a favorite weather phenomenon?"    Phil: "I prefer a light drizzle, it helps all the tasty plants grow bigger!" ❔ "Any advic...

Groundhog Day 2025 What's it Going to be?In the Groundhog Day tradition, the groundhog wakes up early on the annual Feb. 2 holiday and looks around for its shadow. If it sees its shadow, winter will persist for another six weeks. If the groundhog doesn’t see its shadow, then spring will come early. In Gobbler's Nob PA, Punxsutawney Phil, probably annoyed at being rousted from bed so early, and after almost biting one of the assembled dignitaries, predicted another 6 weeks of winter.Chuckles XI, his cousin in Connecticut made his annual appearance at the Lutz Children’s Museum in Manchester with a prediction of an early spring. So, who is one to believe?Common sense would suggest that always trust the ones closest to you which would mean we will not have that dreaded 6 extra weeks of winte...

February 2, 2025: According to tradition in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania,  today is Groundhog's Day. For locals and people streaming all across America, we wait to find out if Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow. What's so great about that?Well, for one thing it is a treasured event where people come together. Children are eager to see for themselves that the groundhog is real! Families and believers in tradition gather around to keep their memories alive. It's a 50/50 percent chance. Will the ground see his shadow or not? Officials from Punxutawney, Pennsylvania are present. They wear funny hats and clothing. Then, the groundhog comes out of his burrowo and one of the officials reads the document. Yes? or No? Does the groundhog see his shadow? No. On February 2, 2025, the groundhog does not...
