This week's choices are for women as Mother's Day is not far off. Maybe you are lucky enough to have a mom or you are a mom. Google Fiber is coming to our section of Canyon Creek! They have been working their way through our community and use a technique called Micro Trenching, where they cut between the asphalt and the concrete curb to install the fiber line. Their expansion includes many new addresses and you can check your address for availability on their site. We just had new asphalt laid in our section of the community and finished last week! It’s too bad Google Fiber hadn’t already expanded to our section but the City had the new asphalt scheduled.   Many are wondering about all the markings we see on our streets. The markings are put there by other utilities in preparation for Google Fiber. Check out the color codes below indicating a different utility. It's going to be a process and many will be watc...

Like so many across the world, we are celebrating Earth Day at our office building, “Plaza One” at the Arboretum from 9 am - 11am. This annual event held today on April 22, 2024 demonstrates support for environmental protection. Vendors will be on hand to accept recycled items. This year the theme for World Earth day centers on Planet vs. Plastics to bring thoughtfulness to the serious issue of plastic pollution and how it harms our environment. World Earth Day is both a grim reminder of the work that must be done and also a celebration for the progress we have made when it comes to climate change efforts. It’s amazing to me the wide range of events coordinated globally by 1 billion people in more than 193 countries!Check out Earth.org to become more informed. Their vision proclamation i...

The nearest airport to Provo is the new Provo airport, but at the time of this writing, it’s not an international airport, and it’s tiny! The Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) was the nearest international airport to Provo, Utah before Provo Airport announced they will be catering to international flights. I was surprised at how busy the SLCIA has become. It has grown in just the last 7 years. I feel like it has doubled in size. I have been flying to Salt Lake City each year for the past 7 years until I moved to Provo. I am used to seeing all the return missionaries being greeted as they return home from their missions. Still, these crowds are more than just return missionaries. Over 26 million people fly in and out of the Salt Lake City International Airport. This airport rank...

I've never know of a person or pet exploding but there are times when Carol or I have sneezed and scared the heck out of each other. On the other hand 2023 Was the Deadliest Year for Home Gas Explosions in Two Decades. If there is ever a time you think you smell natural gas in your home GET OUT and call the gas company. They will send someone out immediately. If it's a night or weekend call 911, that is what they are there for. Not long ago I posted about a deadly incident with my daughter (thankfully the two deaths were her pet birds).
