Wild Fires...Sometimes you have to lose yourself to find yourself. Imagine walking away from everyone you know and love, forsaking the comforts and warmth of hearth and home to make your bed on a narrow green 6 foot folding Army cot. An uncomfortable, uncompromising, miserable little bed nestled amongst a sea of strangers also sharing ad hoc, borrowed floor space in an effort to staff and keep operational an emergency staging area.Picture this: You only get to take two small carry-on bags and a mini blue, very thin insulated sleeping bag. You have exactly 1 pair of running shoes, 3 pairs of socks, 5 shirts and 3 pairs of pants. You leave your fave Nikon home because, well, parts of California are burning.Am I geeky enough to risk my own butt but not the serious electronics? Um... yes, y...

Life With Wee People: The Autism/PDD-NOS Yard SurveySo I'm in The Man Cave hanging with Mr PDD-NOS chatting about the fact that Mr Autism is turning 10 in a couple of weeks. We want to throw him a small party. Ever try having a conversation with a 5 year old riding circles around you? It's a fascinating experience because Stephen, the Minion Blur will suddenly decide we need to go for a walk in the middle of it. Translated: he rides and you jog through the neighborhood (LOL).Turns out he wants to look at other yards and see what the neighbors have done with their seating arrangements. Shorty has concerns about a party disturbing our birds. He's taking planting the yard very seriously. The picnic table we wanted to get for the drive has been discontinued by Home Depot so we're back to sq...

Life With Wee People: Stalking the moon...We just got back from exploring Indialantic and Melbourne. Hubby was a sweetheart and let me be a pain in the a$$ back-seat-driver chasing sunsets, stars and generally running amok with the shorties in tow. Our late night objective? Stalking the moon...The kids had a blast because we love exploring piers and strolling beach side. It's hard counting stars in NYC but there's plenty of open space down here to give it a go.We had dinner here... Stephen, the Minion Blur wanted to be two doors down chillin' at Starbucks. He was quite vocal about it (LOL). I shall be updating Diary of a Five Year Old Yuppie shortly. After that insane parking lot debate how can I not? (silly grin) We owe Little Man a Tazo Tea and a Lemon Loaf. ;-)It's kind of fun playin...

Life With Wee People: Twas the night before Christmas...And Stephen, the Blur Minion is standing guard over all the presents refusing to let anyone near the tree. I keep trying to figure out which little minion killed the star on top but no one's talking (silly grin). Rumor has it Daddy did it. Hmm... hubby aint confirming or denying anything (LOL). ;-)Since I've been in the music room chilling on my sleeping bag composing on the floor, Noah decided to pull the linen off of his bed so the boys could take turns chilling tree-side. They both know there's a percussion instrument in the round package and have been trying to drum through the paper all day long (melodramatic sigh). The kids are on a wee people countdown to midnight. We had a marvelous time at dinner and are expecting guests s...

Bureau of Education and Testing http://www.myfloridalicense.com/dbpr/servop/testing/providers.html I have a lot of information that needs to be printed. Just asked Mike to run to Wal-mart to buy me a ream of paper because I'm in the middle of studying for my FL Broker License and printing neighborhood maps to explore with the wee people. I have to decide which areas I want to specialize in and it's sort of like being in Google Maps High-lighter Hell (LOL).Trying to help Jen find a house that's not far from me or our potential office is turning into quite an adventure. I'm even considering subleasing a virtual office. There's a thriving market for those puppies and they are really quite efficient. My brother-in-law John suggested I open up one as a business venture if I don't find what...

Life With Wee People: Window Dancing And A Chocolate Car Fetish... I knew the moment we started down Lucy's drive Stephen was going to holler "chocolate car!'' (LOL) He is madly in love with Margaret Rome's Lexus. He has been insisting we go back to see the chocolate car and the chocolate house every single day so here we are back in Maryland doing the road trip thing and having a blast.  Noah previously opted to stay home but after seeing the prior shots (and listening to Stephen, the Blur Minion babbling every time he saw Margaret on-line) my big shorty was in tow for round two. We packed canvas, sketch pads and a picnic (LOL). We also played pass the Nikon so Noah will be showing off a few of his fave shots later. I need a nap  before I start writing a bunch of blog posts because we...

Halloween Fun of 2010 in Medford Lakes New Jersey As some of you know, my sister and brother-in-law have 6 kids. The two youngest are twins, a girl and a boy. Well, one of the twins, Ava, didn't want to get out of her stroller for the picture. The two oldest, Katerina and Johnny, where with their friends Trick or Treating this year. So, we have Alisha as a Turkey... Andrew as the Army guy... and Joey as the Prince. Ava is the Princess....           So we took the kids out in Medford Lakes, New Jersey and didn't see much until it got darker. But we did come across this witch that didn't fare to well. I keep instructing the witches in the local on how to fly and that they need to slow down when traveling amongst many trees. Maybe they need a lesson from the witches in Salem, MA.      ...

Writing, writing, writing...I'm in One-Track-Mind mode and have been typing like a lunatic on my laptop for hours. Banging out chapters and scripting is time consuming and I periodically find myself gravitating towards working during the wee hours of the morning. I usually have to do it between wee people activities and was on lock down for most of yesterday. The shorties were pretty cool with it because it afforded them the opportunity to repeatedly raid the pantry for snacks and it's kind of fun watching them wipe out our Twix and Oreo stash. My 5 year old believes going to the bathroom during the wee hours of the morning requires a reward of hugs, kisses, cuddles and/or snack-age. I'm waiting for Shorty to put in his request so I can get back to writing, writing, writing (before I hit...

Hanging with the frogs...I'm stretched out on the floor composing music while hanging with the frogs. Baby frogs are climbing up the exterior windows and walls and I'm absolutely captivated with them. Hubby is trying to get Stephen, the Blur Minion to go outside and check them out. Noah, the Net Geek is already in the front yard scoping the little buggers but Step refuses to leave the Christmas tree (LOL).I have to go see if Shorty wants to take a picture and do a wee people post... Will be back in a few. I have to put my studio monitors back together first. ;-)

(Tax Rep LLC)
You underwent an audit by the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services (“DRS”), after which you receive a set of work papers with a number they claim you owe them that bowls you over, and now you are wondering how to protest a CT DRS sales tax audit in Hartford, CT?  The first step is to get professional representation, if you didn’t already have it.   Though there are instances where taxpayers can handle the matter themselves, the protest is a key step in both appealing the audit findings and preserving your right to fight the assessment in court.  The deadline to file your protest is 60 days in Connecticut, and if you miss that deadline the right to appeal is lost.  For these reasons it is imperative you have a tax professional who understands how to protest a CT DRS sales tax audi...

I have this Google Alert set up that provides me with an email update of the latest relevant Google results (web, news, etc.) for my name - Adrian Salgado - that I usually just skim through since most of the alerts link back to this blog or my Active Rain blog.  However, this morning I awoke to a Google Alert with the words “Miller” and “McCune” attached to it and did the double-take a millisecond short of deleting it. The article attached to the Alert, “The Slumming of Suburbia”, was published this morning by Miller-McCune, a solutions-based research magazine that “draws on academic research and other definitive sources to provide reasoned policy options and solutions for today’s pressing issues”. The journalist behind the article, David Villano, emailed me a few weeks ago after stumb...

'We all know people who would complain if you hung them with a brand new rope.'Jerry McClain.  We get through real estate, and life, daily by taking care of the constant challenges. I choose the word challenge and shy away from the word problem. Everyone has challenges, but not everyone handles them the same. How we respond can make a big difference in getting a property from that initial listing appointment to that final closing.   Turbulence happens. There is no way to avoid it. Like flying a plane, you check the weather, but nature has other plans. The mechanics have done their annual inspection, but inevitably a part malfunctions. An airline employee has a bad day, doesn't show up or has issues, and doesn't have that perfect smile when asking; coffee, tea, or milk?  Does anyone els...

When selling a house, there can only be one conductor. Marin Alsop from the Washington Post   More and you get some not so pleasant sounds. I'm getting ready to list a property, and there rules to follow for the owners.  No, you do not allow friends and family in because they may know someone who MAY be interested in your house.  No one comes in without going through me. Make me the bad guy. Your sister in law's niece's ex- brother in law's recently married son, has to talk to me. Just this morning, my newest property just let a neighbor in because they 'might know someone.' If I am going to represent you, let me do my job! A quick talk with both husband and wife will stop this in the future. Well-meaning owners can innocently "give the farm away."There are rules to follow. There is on...
