In today's world it has become very popular to become more environmentally friendly, and for good reason. It only makes good sense to take care of your surroundings. I think its human nature to question what you are doing, when things are rough. I also think its pretty easy to say, in this economy, things are rough. The highly anticipated Raleigh Street Extended project is about to begin. The project will be completed in three phases. They are holding a groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase. The ceremony will take place on Tuesday May 4th 10am at Oatesdale Park in Martinsburg WV. Governer Manchin and WV secretary of Transportation Paul Mattox are expected to be there. I recently got a huge compliment from a client (and close friend). He told me that I was a great salesman. I was able to sell his father a house with a squirrel living in it! He was being a little sarcastic. Here is the story. I recently was the buyers agent for my friends father. I found him a great house that backed up to the woods, had a wooded lot and a beautiful fireplace. We got him under contract and were heading to closing. The morning of the home inspection, myself, the buyer and home inspector were all going to meet at the house at 9am. Are land sales coming back?  My partner Andrew Johnson and I have noticed an up tick in land sales about 40 to 50 percent of what we do is land and we've noticed that land sales have been getting some phone calls and e-mails.  From traffic coming back on our listings to more phone calls and e-mails. I feel like they are you like people are looking to buy a good piece of dirt at a fraction of what it cost just a few years ago.  It feels to me at least here in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia it seems like you're starting to come back. I just finished a continuing education class about helping a buyer prepare for the buying process. There was lots of good information but there was one thing that really stuck with me. My instructor said focus on Outcome, not Income. Its true that we all work for the money, but that cant be the only reason. If you don't believe in real estate as an investment, you shouldn't be in real estate as a profession. Most agents I know got into real estate because they love the feeling of helping someone reach their dream of home ownership. The best feeling you can possibly have(at work) is handing someone the keys to their new home. I get chills every time.    The County I live in has a program, ran by the Chamber of Commerce, called Leadership Berkeley. It is a program made for business and community leaders. To get into the program you have to be nominated by someone in the community. You then have to fill out an application, and then a committee confirms or denies each applicant. This year I was nominated and accepted into the program. I am looking forward to such a great opportunity to all the upcoming lessons and networking opportunities. I have been actively involved with the Chamber for a few years now and have been very interested in this program. Tonight is the first time I will meet the group, its orientation night.
