Pay It Forward and Support Your Local Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children   I support CASA of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, West Virginia.  Since this program became fully operational in 2004, 25 CASA volunteers have advocated for 167 local abused and neglected children.  There have been 105 children placed in permanent and stable homes. This could not have been possible without the support CASA receives.   When foster children are bounced around, they can end up feeling homeless. Having their lives repeatedly uprooted leaves these children feeling alone and unwanted. YOU can ensure they'll have a safe, permanent home where they can thrive by being a CASA volunteer.   The mission of CASA of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit is to train and administer volunteers to...

The Lewisburg Christmas parade was held on Saturday, December 4th at 1:00 PM.  The parade was coordinated by the Lewisburg Volunteer Fire Department.  It started snowing that morning and it made the parade a more festive time for all.  Even with the snow and cold weather many families were standing on the sidewalks with the children anxiously awaiting for Santa to show.  Coldwell Banker Stuart and Watts participated in the parade.   Below are some photos of the parade:   "Christmas Parade, LewisburgWV"Create a free slideshow with Picnik!

Pay It Forward – A Jailbird for Muscular Dystrophy Yes, it’s true…this morning at the office, Terri Johnson, owner of Coldwell Banker Stuart and Watts in Lewisburg, WV, was handcuffed and taken to “jail”…..that is the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) of West Virginia.  She was indeed doing time for MDA. After arriving at MDA, Terri started making calls to post bail. The MDA of WV performed 52 lockups in Lewisburg today.  The “jailbirds” are mini fundraisers.  To “get out of jail” each volunteer will try to raise $2,400 by calling friends and family to donate to the MDA cause.   The $2,400 will send three MD kids to summer camp.  The summer camp is located at Cedar Lakes in Ripley, WV.  These youngsters ages 6 to 17 attend a week long session of fun including fishing, swimming, dan...

OH Yes, Pepper Talks!     You can see this talking parrot at the Cooper Gallery in Lewisburg, West Virginia.  She talks a lot, mimics  cats, dogs, and some people. She loves to whistle and is quite a talker.  I always have to say hello to her whenever I stop in to visit my friends Marilyn and Gary Cooper.   But, watch out don't put you fingers too close, as she has been known to bite a few patron's fingers.         Gary Cooper took the above photo of Pepper while she was out of her cage.  Isn't she the cutest .... Pepper is an "African Grey" and is 12 years old.

Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT) presents "Nevermore"     GVT will present “Nevermore” on October 29th  and 30th.   The mystery surrounding Edgar Allen Poe’s death and his final days are the inspiration behind this enthralling and deeply human musical.  In a dream-like manner, “Nevermore” is a biographical sketch that uses the author’s own words to examine his relationships with the women in his life, revealing the emotional life that helped create one of America’s literary giants. It’s October, 1849; Poe is ill, frequently drunk, and close to death. In his extended dream he suffers the visions of his young cousin and bride, Virginia; his lifelong paramour, Elmyra; his stepmother, Muddy; and the ghost of his own mother. The evening is an intense excursion into madness that somehow remai...

When I went to the laundry room to start a load of clothes in the washer today, I remembered there was a contest going on about What's Under the Sink, proof that I  can blog about anything.   So, I looked under the sink in the laundry room.  You guessed it, I found Tide, bleach, woolite, and some other cleaning supplies.  Nothing exciting, but glad to see I had Tide to do my laundry, and woolite to wash my sweaters.  While separating the clothes, I started thinking of what we as real estate agents wear to work each day, and the type of fabric worn in our daily activities.   We want to dress professional, right!  When I lived in Northern Virginia, I received my real estate license in 1988 and worked for several different brokers in Alexandria, Falls Church, Springfield and Fairfax.  ...
