What is Cronic Wasting Disease                                            CWD is an untreatable, fatal neurological (brain and nervous system) disease found in deer and elk in some geographic locations in North America. The disease belongs to a family of diseases known as Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (TSE) or prion diseases. The disease attacks the brain and neural tissue of infected deer and elk. While CWD is similar to Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE or "mad cow disease") in cattle and scrapie in sheep and goats, there is no known relationship between CWD and any other TSE of animals or people.

How to avoid a hangover this holiday season. Step 1: EatHave a light meal that includes starches such as pasta or bread before you drink. Foods containing vitamins B and C help counteract the nutrient-depleting effects of alcohol, so add a piece of fruit. Step 2: Know your triggersKnow what drinks triggered past hangovers and avoid them. Steer clear of carbonated drinks, which speed alcohol effects. Avoid shooters and gulping down drinks too quickly. Some people believe darker-colored liquor leads to worse hangovers, so stick to clear spirits. Step 3: Drink waterHave a glass of water after each drink to counteract the dehydrating effects of the alcohol. The more water you drink, the better you'll feel the next day. Step 4: Eat while drinkingEat while drinking to help absorb the alcohol ...

Swine Flu, Known as H1N1 Influenza, Facts and symptoms Swine Flu, officially known as H1N1 influenza , is having a far reaching effect on every one of us. The virus was first tracked in a small town in Mexico in May of 2009 and has spread to nearly every part of the world. The World Health Organization considers it a phase 6 pandemic. Individual cases have stopped being verified and reported as the numbers have increased exponentially. The death toll has nearly reached 3,000 and the fall flu season hasn't hit yet. Symptoms of the H1N1 virus are similar to other strains of flu including muscle aches, upper respiratory infection, fever, nausea and general weakness. Here are some halloween tips for your pets. Remember, your pets can't tell you what's wrong and what bothers them. They are more easily frightened since they have no idea what's going on. Be sympathetic and treat them like you'd want to be treated if you were them! Just because you think a certain Halloween costume for pets is cute doesn't mean that they will enjoy wearing them! Try it on them in advance and see how they react. Getting Halloween treats for your visitors and kids? Don't forget to pick up a box of dog or cat treats for them as well!

Here are some tips for a fun and safe halloween       Help your child pick out or make a costume that will be safe. Make it fire proof, the eye holes should be large enough for good peripheral vision. If you set jack-o-lanterns on your porch with candles in them, make sure that they are far enough out of the way so that kids costumes won't accidentally be set on fire. Make sure that if your child is carrying a prop, such as a scythe, butcher knife or a pitchfork, that the tips are smooth and flexible enough to not cause injury if fallen on. Kids always want to help with the pumpkin carving. Small children shouldn't be allowed to use a sharp knife to cut the top or the face. There are many kits available that come with tiny saws that work better then knives and are safer, although you c...

An extension of the $8,000 U.S. homebuyer tax credit is gaining support in the Senate as bill sponsor John Isakson said he is rallying lawmakers to continue a program that helped boost home sales by more than 1 million. "I'm working the floor now to make everyone aware that the $8,000 credit sunsets" Isakson, a Georgia Republican. His legislation would extend the program through the end of 2010, almost double the credit to $15,000 and remove restrictions that prohibit individuals who already own homes or earn $75,000 - $150,000 for couples - from getting the tax break. The bill, first introduced in June 2009, failed in a 47-50 Senate vote in August.

Real estate transactions involve one of the biggest financial investments most people experience in their lifetime. Transactions today usually exceed $100,000. If you had a $100,000 income tax problem, would you attempt to deal with it without the help of a CPA? If you had a $100,000 legal question, would you deal with it without the help of an attorney? Considering the small upside cost and the large downside risk, it would be foolish to consider a deal in real estatewithout the professional assistance of a REALTOR®. Realty Executives, Menomonie Wisconsin have a full staff of knowledgeable, Full time agents waiting to assist you.

REALTORS LOWER YOUR RISK - When you are represented by a Realtor, you can rely on them to advise and navigate you through the transaction process in a legal and safe manner. Your agent will make sure that you take the appropriate steps to protect yourself. Incredibly, many states do not have laws or regulatory bodies in place that protect all aspects of home buying.  REALTORS UNDERSTAND THE COMPLEXITY OF THE TRANSACTION - Consumer mandated disclosures, environmental and structural reports, and other liabilities have turned the home transfer process into a complicated minefield. Realtors work with contracts daily and can fully understand which points are harmful and beneficial to you. They work in conjunction with legal professionals and abide by strict code of ethics.

You want to hire a top producing agent because, top producing agents negotiate well, unlike most buyers and sellers, they can remove themselves from the emotional aspects of the transaction and because they are skilled. It's part of their job description. Good agents are not messengers, delivering buyer's offers to sellers and vice versa. They are professionals who are trained to present their client's case in the best light and agree to hold client information confidential from competing interests.

You don't need to know everything about buying and selling real estate if you hire a real estate professional who does. Henry Ford once said that when you hire people who are smarter than you are, it proves you are smarter than they are. The trick is to find the right person. For the most part, they all cost about the same. Why not hire a person with more education and experience than you? We're all looking for more precious time in our lives, and hiring a professional real estate agent gives you that time.

Welcome to Knapp, Dunn County Wisconsin! The west central Wisconsin village of Knapp has 125 years under its belt, but with only 400 Plus residents, it's hardly too big for its britches. When Knapp will grow is a better question than if it will grow because, quite frankly, it's too good of a secret to be kept much longer. Located in western Dunn County, Knapp is in the diminishing corridor just west of the Chippewa Valley (Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls and Menomonie) and just east of ongoing Twin Cities outgrowth. It takes just an hour from Knapp to catch a plane at the Minneapolis airport or to shop at the Mall of America. It takes anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes to reach UW-Stout (Menomonie),UW-River Falls, or UW-Eau Claire. The village of Knapp has its own elementary school and is part ...

Agriculture plays a big role in Dunn County   Looking for a relaxing getaway? or maybe a new place to call home? How about a location for your business ... Wisconsin's Dunn County and historic Menomonie have a lot to offer! The years 1822, 1830, 1846, 1853, 1893, and 1901 are all of historical significance and importance in the early history of Menomonie. In 1822, Harding Perkins, representing James H. Lockwood and Joseph Rolette, erected a lumber mill at the confluence of Wilson Creek and the Red Cedar - former site of the Wisconsin Milling Company. A sudden overflowing of the river swept away the dam and mill. In 1830, after a lengthy disagreement over the authority of the Indian agent to grant permissions, Loc...
