What is Cronic Wasting Disease                                            CWD is an untreatable, fatal neurological (brain and nervous system) disease found in deer and elk in some geographic locations in North America. The disease belongs to a family of diseases known as Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (TSE) or prion diseases. The disease attacks the brain and neural tissue of infected deer and elk. While CWD is similar to Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE or "mad cow disease") in cattle and scrapie in sheep and goats, there is no known relationship between CWD and any other TSE of animals or people. 11/06/2009

Wisconsin Cronic wasting disease Beginning September 1st, 2009, Wisconsin restricted the movement of whole deer carcass from within the CWD-Management Zone into the rest of the state as well as into Wisconsin from other states and provinces. CWD positive deer in the late stages of the disease exhibiting abnormal behavior. As a reminder, only deer in the final stages of CWD exhibit obvious physical and behavioral symptoms.   11/06/2009

Swine Flu, Known as H1N1 Influenza, Facts and symptoms Swine Flu, officially known as H1N1 influenza , is having a far reaching effect on every one of us. The virus was first tracked in a small town in Mexico in May of 2009 and has spread to nearly every part of the world. The World Health Organization considers it a phase 6 pandemic. Individual cases have stopped being verified and reported as the numbers have increased exponentially. The death toll has nearly reached 3,000 and the fall flu season hasn't hit yet.  Here are some tips for a fun and safe halloween       Help your child pick out or make a costume that will be safe. Make it fire proof, the eye holes should be large enough for good peripheral vision. If you set jack-o-lanterns on your porch with candles in them, make sure that they are far enough out of the way so that kids costumes won't accidentally be set on fire. Make sure that if your child is carrying a prop, such as a scythe, butcher knife or a pitchfork, that the tips are smooth and flexible enough to not cause injury if fallen on. Realty Executives 5th annual pumpkin-give-away was a huge success. Kids of all ages come out on Saturday October 25, 2009 for the 5th annual free pumpkin give-a-way. This year Realty Executives handed out over 450 pumpkins to the community of Menomonie Wisconsin. Some repeat guests of 5 years even come dressed in there costumes. An extension of the $8,000 U.S. homebuyer tax credit is gaining support in the Senate as bill sponsor John Isakson said he is rallying lawmakers to continue a program that helped boost home sales by more than 1 million. "I'm working the floor now to make everyone aware that the $8,000 credit sunsets" Isakson, a Georgia Republican. His legislation would extend the program through the end of 2010, almost double the credit to $15,000 and remove restrictions that prohibit individuals who already own homes or earn $75,000 - $150,000 for couples - from getting the tax break.   5th Annual Pumkin Give-A-Way These are pictures of the 4th annual pumpkin give a-way with Johnson Bank. Realty Executives Premier & Johnson Bank (Both from Menomonie Wi) gave away a little over 500 pumpkins, along with free hot dogs, chips & pop, for their 4th annual pumpkin give away. This year we had a very good growing season. The pumpkins are huge! The truck is full and there are about 400 for us to give to the public. Again there will be hotdogs, chips, and soda pop. The give-a-way starts at 11:00 Saturday October 24th and goes till they are all gone. (this takes just over an hour) so come early. 10/19/2009
