It's another rainy week, but I had the pleasure of meeting a client for coffee yesterday morning in downtown Washougal. The Washougal Coffee Company is generally quiet enough to allow for good conversation and the London Fogs are delicious.  In my opinion, this beverage is made for cold damp days in the Pacific Northwest.  A London Fog is also known as Vanilla Tea Misto or an Earl Grey Tea Latte. In Scotland, it's called a Vancouver Fog, since it was originally created in Vancouver, British Columbia.  Basically, it's steeped Earl Grey tea with steamed milk, a shot of vanilla, and a sweetener of choice. I also sprinkle the top layer of foam with nutmeg and cinnamon. If you  haven't had the pleasure of enjoying this creamy beverage, I encourage you to give it a try. Some people use a hint ...

Private Lush 1.94 Acres, Custom Hm 1 Mile From TownZoned R1-10 Urban Holding 3700 SE Stiles Rd.Washougal, WA  98671 I don't often have the opportunity to have a seller write part of my blog but this home is so unqiue I thought you'd enjoy the special features about it: Back in 1997 my family purchased this amazing home in Washougal, and when we listed it for sale, I started to count in my head all the things that are special about it the the new buyers might enjoy: 1. For twenty years we’ve had a leaning apple tree. That’s right, it grew up stubborn, refusing to grow any other way.  It provides so many apples each year that in late summer, there were many calls from friends vying to be the first to get a bucketful of these sweet apples.  2. There is often a group of deer leisurely meand...

I took our grandsons to watch the most recent MX event in Washougal WA.  It was so exciting! I had never watched the races before this year...usually I had worked a concession booth for the Knights of Columbus each year so our youth groups could earn money to go build homes in Mexico. This year....we found a perfect place to watch...under some trees but we could see almost all the curves in the track.  It was one of the most amazing events I've ever seen. It was electrifying, exciting and terrifying all at once. The "young" participants were so DRIVEN to win, I don't think they had a thought in their head that they could have an accident at those high speeds. (No one had a real accident so all was good.) But my heart would be thumping so hard just watching the riders slam their way up t...

I sell many homes here on the Washougal River Rd. I often send an email to the new buyers so they can know some fun facts about this great river!  Here is an email I just wrote this morning to a new buyer: Hey Scott.... I hope you are enjoying your new waterfront home! I just wanted you to know a little about the Washougal River community.  Starting from the furthest miles up the river and coming down river, here are some fun things only the locals would know:  Dugan Falls on the Washougal River Rd:  Dugan falls is about 15 miles up the river away from town. But on the way up to Dugan Falls....you'll pass the fish hatchery. Stop and talk with a "ranger" there. It's pretty interesting. (A ranger once told me that sometimes they take the fish that make it back home...all the way back down...

Riverfront Home Now Pending with ViewHomes of Clark County We are so grateful for technology and the ability to provide real estate services while traveling. On a recent week-long trip to Estes Park in Colorado, we were able to negotiate an accepted offer on a fabulous waterfront home on the Washougal River. Our buyers contacted us in the Spring to view one of our listings, unfortunately that home sold before they could get their ducks in a row. And, while that home was fabulous, we all think this property will be an even better fit.Not all river front properties in Clark County come with fishing rights. This one does! It was an important consideration for this couple as the husband is an avid fisherman. Imagine owning 800 feet of waterfront along a pristine river? They are so excited. ...

Our recent trip to Carson, WA (to preview a log cabin - more on that another time) turned into a delightful adventure of sights, sounds and regional foods. About an hour's drive from Camas, Carson is due East on Highway 14 through Washougal, WA, "Gateway to the Gorge". Driving along towering bluffs, breath-taking views of the massive Gorge illustrate how the mighty Columbia River forged this region.  We pass Cape Horn Nature Trail, one of our favorite hikes - uphill through a pristine rain forest that loops into Nancy Russell Overlook, one of most impressive panoramic views of the area. Next up is the massive Bonneville Dam, roaring from the powerful current, and the nearby Hot Springs Resort & Spa, offering a quieter retreat.Along the road is a seasonal native fish market, where we buy...
