Once again our team and our office is sponsoring another location of the First Friday Art Walk for April in Vancouver WA.  This April 6th, 2018 is much anticipated as the Spring season has officially arrived, and we expect reasonably good, seasonal weather. This month's featured local artist is Vicki Hastay. She is a retired local teacher that Kat Zander has met at Class at Clark College.  All of her Original works on display will be available for sale. The hours for this Open-to-the-Public event are from 5:00 pm until about 8:00 pm. In addition to the art there will be Wine and light snacks.  The location for this fine artwork is at 311 W 11th Street in Vancouver WA, with many other locations within a modest walking distance (please remember the meter maid gets off of work at 6:00 if y...

Seventh Heaviest One-Day Snowfall in 100 Years for Vancouver WA The Vancouver Washington area had a relatively heavy snowfall of between 10" and 12" depending on location. With the rarity of such an occurrence, the local road crews were somewhat understaffed to clear much more than the main roads.  Thus, we waited a full day to venture out (Thursday instead of Wednesday), and the following are a few of our favorite photos; starting in the neighborhood by City Hall and Esther Short Park: Captain Vancouver and Snow-Covered Globe -  Vancouver WA Jan. 2017 We most often see Captain Vancouver holding a bouquet of flowers in milder weather when visiting the Farmers Market which is held on this street. Old Slocum House Dressed in Snow, Vancouver WA January 2017 We next ventured over to the Nat...

Esther Short Park Here's a little factoid I stumbled across today: Vancouver pioneer and early settler, Esther Short, bequeathed the first park in all of Washington to the city of Vancouver in 1855. This very same park has always bore her name and is currently the centerpiece of a vibrant downtown Vancouver, Washington. Records indicate Esther was one of the first settlers to make a claim and that was in 1845. That claim was for 640 acres and I've heard stories (thank you Pat Jollota) of the hardships and struggles she and her husband endured to maintain their property. Esther is just one of many amazing characters in the history of Vancouver, Washington. No doubt much of the current city is influenced by who lived here before. If you're ready to make your mark in this historic and inte...
