Sequim, WA Real Estate News

Some talk about the poor state of the real estate market, but Washington state has been one of the strongest and most stable markets in the nation. An August 7, 2007 article in the Seattle Times newspaper reported, "Prices of King County houses and condominiums last month increased 9 percent compared to a year earlier -- even while the number of available properties grew 51 percent." The Sequim real estate market and the Port Angeles real estate market are not seeing any significant drop in housing prices either. We have a surprisingly strong market, even under slowing demand in the face of more housing construction.  Read more at the Sequim Real Estate Blog.

Visit the North Olympic Peninsula and you might hear mention of the Discovery Trail.  This is a trail that will ultimately span 120 miles along what was the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul, and Pacific Railroad line.  When complete, it will span from Port Townsend on the east across to LaPush, on the west.Pedestrians, bicyclists, and equestrians all enjoy the finished portions that connect Port Angeles to Sequim.  Views enjoyed from this stretch range from the Port Angeles Harbor, Strait of Juan De Fuca, Vancouver Island and Mt. Baker (on clear days), and wide stretches of farmland.  The ODT is home of the Olympic Discovery Marathon, a Boston Marathon qualifying race.  This MAP will show you a closer view of the Port Angeles and Sequim portions.  It also just happens to be a favorite place...

Back in May, fellow Rainer Doc Reiss, posted a brief message about an annual event here on the North Olympic Peninsula.  An Amazing Event, The Windermere North American Master Sand Sculpture Invitational I wanted to show you a few pictures of some sculptures from this wonderful event that I took last year and invite you to Port Angeles and the North Olympic Peninsula to see them for yourself. Please bear in mind, I took these pictures while the sculptures were still in progress.  These artists take 2 to 3 days to complete their work. This years theme is "The Circus is coming to Town"  I can't wait to see the work this year.     Edit:  Sorry about my spelling skills.  They were lacking today.  I've fixed it.Kathy

I once remember seeing a Peanuts cartoon where Sally showed Charlie Brown her 1000 word paper that was due.  Charlie Brown said, "But that's just a picture."  Sally's response was, "Since a picture is worth 1000 words, I thought this would be good."I'm not sure how Sally's paper was scored, but she does have a point.  A picture tells a person a lot.  We are Rainers, we know this to be true.  Pictures help us make a point, add humor, or just catch the readers eye.  Unfortunately, there are many Realtors out there who don't understand the concept of the photograph on a listing.More often than not, as I'm perusing the new listings on our local MLS, I'll see the basic info and say to myself, "Ooo, I'll bet that house is cute!"  When I click to see the rest of the listing information and the...

With the national news being loaded with happenings of girls missing and being abducted this is the perfect time to remember that a real estate agents safety while showing properties is very important.  My reasons for staying safe are in the picture below.  Of course the photographer is another big reason too.  I attend karate classes each week and learn self defense along with the sport karate.  It is very empowering for me .  Below are some safety pointers that all agents should consider and add to their showing "regimen".Always be alert to verbal and non-verbal clues from your clients as you talk with them that alert you or make you uneasy, trust your instincts. If possible, show clients properties before dark.  Bad guys prefer the dark due to visibility.  If you are comfortable taki...
