Recently the Seattle Great Wheel opened on the docks at the water front.  It is the latest attraction on the docks designed to promote the waterfront.  While not the engineering marvel of the Space Needle, it is still a pretty cool piece of engineering.  As one of the largest Ferris Wheels in the country, it will give the visitor a great view of Elliot Bay and the surrounding area. I have yet to ride in the thing.  The other day at my inspection however, I felt like I could almost have stepped from the balcony right onto the wheel.  Sometimes at inspections I end up with spectacular views of the great Northwest.  This time I was lucky enough to not only have the Mountain View, Elliot Bay and the Great Wheel---but out another window I could see the famous Pike Market. You can’t beat th...

How you handle sticky situations can tell the world a lot about who you are and how you will be in other sticky situations.   People want to get a sense of whether you will gum up the works or not.  They want information they can chew on without feeling they have to immediately spit it back out.If you want to get rid of those unpleasant qualities that you have been carting around for years---how about considering symbolically going down to the Pike Market in Seattle and finding Post Alley and sticking them on the infamous Gum Wall.  When you walk by the wall and smell the cornucopia of gum flavors that have come from all around the world you can perhaps leave yours there as well. I can not think of a more colorful way to deal with a sticky situation.I think even Jackson Pollock would ap...

I am blessed to live just blocks away from Seattle's Pike Place Market, one of Seattle's top visitor attractions, and often a daily stop for local chefs and "foodies".  The sights of "flying" fish tossed through the air by the seafood purveyors, the sounds of the many street musicians, and the smells of foods from around the world can nearly put a first time visitor into sensory overload!  And the colors...even on a the cloudiest of days the market presents natures rainbow in many forms...flowers, produce, seafood, even people.      Who would have ever thought that a "bouquet" of sweet peppers could display such color and beauty? Every buyer of Seattle real estate visits the market on occasion to take in this vibrant part of the city's culture.  Many owners of Seattle downtown condos ha...

While in Seattle attending Re Bar camp, I and few other fellow bloggers came upon a very special little establishment at the Pike Place Market. This gem was a real discovery. I have to give credit where it is due because without our Enthusiastic Traveler (check this site out) Doumina Whyman, an associate at our Windermere (Hey, check this site too) office in Allyn, I would not have know about the La Buona Traola. When stepping through the timeless (Seattle pike place funk) entrance you encounter a world that has existed for ages.(alright, a little dramatic).  The owners encourage sampling and I have to say that the truffles, soups and chocolates are exquisite. After tasting this and that and sampling the wines, I had to bring it all home. In doing so, I was able to create an unforgetta...
