In our list of 30 things to do in Pullman we have a great family friendly indoor ice rink.  The ice rink is located in nearby Moscow Idaho, our sister city just 15 minutes away.  It is, of course, a seasonal sport, so it is open form October 21 to March 31st.   The Palouse Ice Rink offers figure skating and ice skating lessons for both children and adults.  They also offer both adult and youth Ice Hockey programs and leagues.  You might want to check out their schedule for public skates, lessons and prices etc.  It is also a great idea for a birthday partys.     I think it would be a super idea to get the family out and try ice skating.  I have personally never ice skated.  But I suspect as my grand daughter gets a bit older we will both be on the ice having a great time.  Hopefully ...

I often have clients who are relocating to the area want to know a few good restaurants or places to visit while in Pullman.  I have several nearby restaurants that I recommend, but today I will write about Swilly's as yesterday I took my two new homeowners for a celebration lunch.     Swilly's is a cute intimate restaurant located along the Palouse River.  Their menu offers a very well rounded choice.  Yesterday I had the soup of the day which was a potato leek soup that was absolutely delicious with a side salad of a lovely bed of greens and a great balsamic vinagerette and bread.  One of my clients had a hamburger that looked absolute delicious.  The other client had a raviloi that also looked so very good.   They followed with dessert that was tempting to say the least....but a...

Thanksgiving Break has begun for WSU, and the streets of Pullman are quiet.  We always enjoy when our community quiets down a bit.  As I work downtown in Beasley Realty, I often enjoy strolling downtown Main Street and do a little window shopping. I took this picture out on such a walk right down from my office. It is always a great idea to start with a nice cup of coffee or hot chocolate this time of year.  We have both a Thomas Hammer Coffee Shop and a the Daily Grind  Both offer a great cup of coffee and a great atmosphere. Then I like to walk up and down the streets.  A few of my favorite clothing shops are Flirt and I also really like Lilly Bee's Consignment Shop  I have found some great items there for a really great price. If you are looking for some sparkle, Sam Dial's Jewelry s...

Here is a great community event you don't want to miss.  On November 18, 2012 the Evangelical Free Church of the Palouse is hosting "Operation Christmas Child." Boxes can be picked up starting at 12:00.  It is a great cause and I have included guidelines for your convenience.  The boxes need to be returned by Sunday, November 18, 2012. This is a great cause...and there is no greater feeling that putting a smile on young child's face. 1.  Use a standard size shoe box or small plastic container.  You may wrap the box lid, but it is necessary.  And please pray for the little one that receives it. 2.  Determine if it is a boy or girl and child's age category which is 2-4; 5-9 and 10-14.  Print out the appropriate label and tape to the top of the box. 3. Fill with gifts that are age appropri...

It is beautiful for a November day in Pullman Washington.  Right now it is 46 degrees with partly sunny skies.  So today's blog of 30 things to do in Pullman has to be an outdoor activity.  I think a trip to the park is definintely in order! We have several great parks in Pullman Washington.  The one I will focus on today has to be Sunnyside Park located on Sunnyside Hill.  This is one of my personal favorites, and the one I often take my Grand daughter to as she loves both feeding the ducks in the pond as well as the playground equipment. They also have a great gazebo which plays host to many actitivities.  I know I have been both to outdoor family BBQ's as well as a bridal shower during warmer weather.  And of course, Sunnyside Park takes center stage on the 4th of July as it the l...

One of the must things to do when in Pullman during the winter months is a trip to our indoor pool and fitness center!  The Pullman Aquatic and Fitness Center is located at 500 NW Larry Street near the Pullman High School.   They have both a large pool and a smaller therapy pool.  The large pool is a 25 yard pool and great for laps, swimming competitions as well as alll around family fun.  They also have water exercise classes as well as swimming lessons for all ages. The smaller warmer therapy pool is kept at 92 degrees and is a great resource for those under going physical therapy as well for little ones getting accustom to the water.  I have personally watched my little grand daughter at her first classes as just a little baby, and boy she sure got into the whole swing of things quic...

Basketball is in full swing at WSU and definitely a must on your list of things to do in Pullman!  Tonight at 7 P.M our Cougar Men's Basketball team will host Utah Valley at Beasley Coliseum.   You gotta love a mid week break and settle in to some great seats and watch a great game of hoops!  And of course, Butch will be there making his way around the crowd.  Here is a picture of my little grand daughter, Sophia, saying Hi to Butch, our great mascot! I must admit that I am a bit new to basketball.  But being the proud Mother of two boys, slowly but surely I learned more and more about sports.  I remember one of the first games I went to was between the Cougars and those dreaded Huskies, our arch rivals.  I happened to be sitting behind the bench and was scared to death I would che...

When you are in Pulllman, you need to check out Merry Cellars, for a great Washington Wine!  We are fortunate to have this great place right in Pullman, and you don't want to miss this one! Patrick Merry is the winemaker and develops some lovely wines. He is a great guy and gave me a tour one summer evening when I met with two clients as we celebrated their closings on lovely patio.  It was a great night...you know one of those bitter sweet times.  So happy my seller's sold their home...so sad to see them move. They also have a great wine club that you might want to check out whether you live here in Pullman or anywhere for that matter. They also have wine tastings at their great location surrounded by the beautiful Palouse.  Their tastings are 12-6 Tuesday  through Saturday.  And Sunda...

Today in Pullman we are anticipating a change in weather from the mid 40's during the day to a cold front coming our way and snow.  So if you haven't gotten those snow tires on, you might want to do that today. With some colder weather around the corner, I thought it would be a great day to discuss the virtues of coffee in Pullman Washington.  There are some great coffee houses here, but one of my favorite has to be a small and independently owned coffee house named Zoe's located in the heart of Washington State University.  If you are in Pullman or visiting, you owe it to yourself to discover some of our great independently owned restuarants. Zoe's has amazing barristas.  Here is a picture of the a great cup of coffee they did up for me called Magic Mocha. It is a work of artt, both in...

One of the things that is fantastic in Pullman is the benefits we enjoy being home to Washington State University.  And of course, for many of us, WSU Sports is central to many of us, providing many hours of enjoyment as we support our young men and women who make up many of the sporting events we enjoy.   Today, November 6, 2012, is the last day to tour our new Cougar Football Project with our new press box and premium seating area from 11:30 to 1. This open house is open to all faculty, students and all of Pullman.  Athletic department staff will be available on all levels to answer any questions you may have.  They do ask you enter the facility on the main entrance off of Wilson Road.   As you can see in the picture on the left that I took, the view from the premium seating is imp...

Over the course of November, I thought it would be fun to list 30 things to do in Pullman.  As a Realtor, I work with lots of folks relocating to our special part of Washington, and thought this would be helpful to both my clients, and anyone moving here or living here for that matter. Today is absolutely incredible with a 63 degree day and partly cloudy, partly sunny.  I just walked down the street from Beasley Realtyn to the bank without a jacket and loved every minute of it.  It so incredible out there today it inspired today's blog on the Palouse Ridge Golf Course. This 18 hole golf course was listed in America's Best New Courses in 2009.  It is also listed in Golfweek's best courses you can play in 2011.  It is also listed in Golfweek's best campus courses and will host the Woman's...

The weekend is in full swing and it brings to mind a great family activity in Pullman and that is Bowling at Zeppos.  So get your bowling swing in shape and spend some great quality time with the family! Their hours are Monday-Friday from 11 to 2AM.  With Saturday and Sunday hours from to 2AM.  We often have our Whitman County Association of Realtors Family Party bowling with our families, and it is always a lot of fun.  Especially in our business, it is a great time to see our collegues with their families. I personally am not very good at bowling, but they also have a great bar and grill.  The food is delicious.  And they also have Mr. Z's casino if bowling is not your cup of tea.  So there is lots to do for everyone! Our weather is suppose to be great this weekend so during the ...

With Fall in full swing here in Pullman Washington, I thought I would remind my clients to get those sprinkler systems on the docket to be blown out in the next few days or weeks. We have had wonderful weather here in Pullman, but we did drop into the 20’s the other nite rather unexpectedly.  Also, for those contemplating moving this winter, please remember not to back up those moving trucks over the yard, even if it is frozen and pipes are blown out.  You can damage the sprinkler pipes, or the sprinkler heads, causing a lot of headaches come spring. And if you use hoses and sprinklers to water your yard, now is the time to coil those hoses up and tuck away for the return of warmer weather.

The last few days have been incredibly hot for Pullman with temperatures hitting 100 yesterday.  As I am heading out for some showings with a buyer, I thought it might be helpful to pass along some tips for sellers that just might help make that all important impression. If you have air conditioning crank it up!  Going in and out of the car between houses gets hot.  Walking into a lovely cooled home will certainly not only be appreciated, but also will cause your buyers to linger. Put some bottled water, iced tea or lemonade in the fridge with a nice tray of glasses on the counter with a note that you left them some refreshments to make their viewing of your home more pleasurable.  They will appreciate your thoughtfulness and know you are wanting them to seriously consider your home. An...

As July and Summer is in full swing here in Pullman Washington, I thought I would jot down some ideas that sellers could implement to help them get that SOLD sign in front of their home. With temperatures climbing into the 90’s in the next few days it looks like summer is finally here in spite of our rather wet June. So now is the time to make sure you get those sprinklers on. If you have a sprinkler system, keep that grass as green as you can. Most people find a green lawn a major component of curb appeal. And if you don’t have a sprinkler system, make sure you tuck those hoses away. A nice pot or two of flowers can really brighten up that front door. Some people don’t realize how the time at the front door sets the tone for the showing. That is when the anticipation for the showing is...
