The official beginning of Fall may still be weeks away, but for Pullman Washington Fall is here!  Living in a community that is  centered around Washington State University makes Pullman special!  Our town literally explodes this time of year as the students return and our town nearly doubles.  Classes both on the WSU campus and our local area Pullman schools have begun!   But what really marks the beginning of the Fall for Pullman has got to be football!  Our first game is tomorrow, (September 5, 2009) against the Standford Cardinals at 3 PM... and you can definitely feel the excitement in the air!  Our fans are die hard Cougars through and through! One of my favorite bumper stickers says it all..."Cougars bleed Crimson."   Our die hard fans will pour into town from all over the state,...

I just returned from the Pullman/Moscow Airport.  I dropped off little Lucy and she looked anxious in her small doggie carrier.  She is awaiting her flight to Seattle to reunite with her happy owners.  This is the story about Lucy.  This is the story of how I'm a REALTOR by day and for a short period, was the Lucy Guardian at night. Former clients from the Seattle area were in Pullman for the weekend to work on a house they had purchased for their WSU student.  Somehow Lucy wandered from the house on Friday evening causing great distress to her owners.  They called to let me know what had happened.  After contacting the Whitman County Humane Society, Lucy's owners spoke to a "pet detective" who took notes about Lucy and her disappearance.  Mike, Lucy's "dad", posted signs all over the P...

By Lori Cofer, REALTOR ~ "Your Pullman WA Real Estate Connection" Usally when I have out of town clients, they ask me to recommend some good places to eat in our wonderful Pullman, WA community.  A very nice place to eat is at Swilly's, not far from my office at Beasley Realty.     Swilly's is located at 200 NE. Kamaiken Street in Pullman and offers great food at very reasonable prices.   One of my favorites has to be their "Mediterranean Grilled Chicken Sandwich" with a side salad!!!!  For a look at what this great, local establishment has to offer, feel free to browse their menus.     About the Author: The above piece was provided as a community service by Lori Cofer, a local Pullman WA Real Estate Agent. Go Cougs!  WSU Women's Soccer 2009 begins!  We had 30 Soccer Athletes come to dinner this as we welcomed back form the upcoming season.  This is such an exciting time for us as a family and as a community!  The girls did really well last year.  They travelled to the NCAA Soccer tournament and had a very successful year but that was then and this year brings ten new Freshmen into the mix.  I can't wait to see them play!  They are quite a group of successful young women, not only athletically, but academically as well.  Their first official practice began on Wednesday.  The ancticipation for the season is electric!  It was a relaxing and welcoming night.  We had the team, coaches, trainer and staff over not only to celebrate the beginning of the season, but the community that is WSU Women...

Saturday, August 1st, was a great day!  It was the 2009 Golf Classic benefitting the Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation... and my first golf tournament!  I was nervous, and excited and I waited as the excitement overtook those feelings of nerves.  COLDWELL BANKER TOMLINSON sponsored the fourth hole.  It felt good to know our company was a part of this great event.  By the time our team approached the hole, I felt pretty comfortable...ha, ha...and then I took out the driver and hit the ball.  I can't tell you how far it went, but it went.  For me, that's good after a couple of months of lessons.   The Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation Golf Classic was held at the beautiful Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman, WA.  It was an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start and our group started on Hole 17.  O...

By Lori Cofer, REALTOR ~ "Your Pullman Real Estate Connection"   Often when I have out of town clients, they ask me to recommend some good places to eat.  When they are in the mood for sit down Italian, I often send them to Basilio's which is just down the street from my office at Beasley Realty.     Basilio's is located at 337 E. Main Street in Pullman and offers great  Italian food at very reasonable prices.   One of favorites has to be their "Old World Lasagna," with a side salad with "Huckleberry Dressing".  Those who are not familiar with huckleberries, they are similar to a blue berry, but with a flavor all their own.  They grow wild in our part of the country, and in fact this is the time of year where people head out to the hillsides to go huckleberry picking.  Another of my p...

Lori Cofer, REALTOR ~ "Your Pullman WA Real Estate Connection" Pullman Washington has many home based businesses, and one of my personal favorites has to be Sumptuous Soaps.  Kathleen Tetzlaff makes delightfully wonderful handcrafted soaps and natural cleaning products for the home.   I have several favorites including her "lavender rosemary oatmeal soap", her "cook's helper" soap with coffee grounds and, of course, her "heaven's scent" soap.  Can't make up your mind?  Try one of her organza gift bags!  These soaps are so creamy and truly oh so luxurious!   She also makes an array of natural cleaning products, gluten free chap sticks, and lots of other great products for the skin.  Feel free to check out her website at Sumptous Soaps for a complete selection and ability to order on line...

There are little things that you can do everyday to go green!   A great place to start going green is in the kitchen.  Here is a great video that has some great ways you can go green in your kitchen.       Number one on the list is buying local organic produce!  This year Pullman began it's own Fresh Farm Market.   Here lots of local business men and women gather to sell their wares, all of which are the cream of the crop! Our farmer's market takes place in the parking lot of the Old Post Office Wine Gallery which i...

Lori Cofer, REALTOR ~ "Your Pullman WA Real Estate Connection" One of my great joys as a Pullman Washington Realtor has got to be helping someone relocate to our great area and find the perfect house for them to call home.  This summer marked one of those special times that I will truly never forget, and a patriotic one at that!   I had the great privilege of serving one of our service woman who serves our great country. On Memorial Day weekend we looked at several homes that had been pre-selected by her Mom, a wonderful lady and new found friend. When her daughter arrived I was floored by this special hero.  We began our refined search and by the end of the day we were back writing an offer!  It really marked a special Memorial Day both for me and this very special first time home buye...

July 4th, 2009.  It was a beautiful night in the Northwest and the place we call home, Pullman, WA.  I wanted to share these pics as I watched my daughter taking pictures of the Fireworks Display that was held at Sunnyside Park.  There is something magical about children and fireworks.  Their eyes are wide open, their faces awestruck as they see the display of lights above them.  Some children are sitting on their parent's laps while others run around with sparklers wanting to feel like they're part of the action.  It's really a special treat.  There is so much to celebrate, our Independence Day, but for children and especially mine, it is a night she wants to capture and hold onto for a while to come.
