I live in a small town.  We can get across town in about 5 minutes.  And even when we get inundated with out of town visitors for an out of town event such as a WSU game it is still about 10 minutes.  Living in a small town has it's benefits.   One of those benefits is Realtor Tour.  Because we can readily access the properties in our area, our office, like many of the offices here go out on tour faithfully.  The benefits are immense.     We see the properties before we show always keeping our eye for that perfect house for our client. We have a better feel for the pricing on our own listings either currently on the market or coming on the market. We let our seller's in our area know that we as an association are working hard to sell their property.  I think this is very importa...

Today has got to be THE CLASSIC FALL DAY day in Pullman Washington.  The sky is blue and the temperature today was close to 60 degrees.  There was just a light breeze providing just a bit of movement to the leaves still left on the trees.  It was gorgeous! I found myself for a few wonderful hours in the heart of WSU.  Pullman is host to Washington State University.  I watched students and professors heading to and from their classes with book bags and satchels in tow.  Everyone really seemed to be enjoying this beautiful day. Washington State University provides great opportunities and things to do in Pullman. Thanks to the university there is always something going on! I am looking forward to next weekend when WSU will host their 2009 Dad's Weekend.  It is a blast!  All those Co...

It was the perfect setting for the Annual Pumpkin Patch sponsored by our office, Coldwell Banker Tomlinson. After Soccer games, and early Saturday outings, families stopped by to receive their free pumpkin, listen to some great Halloween music and get plenty of candy and apple cider. Tonight marks the end of Daylight Savings time. So before you go to bed turn your clocks back one hour. I personally love gaining the extra hour of sleep.     As we turn back our clocks it is great reminder that we also need to tuck our homes in for the upcoming winter. The winters in Pullman Washington, although most magical, are best enjoyed when our homes are functioning properly. In fact, just the other day we had our first few snowflakes falling. So, here are just a few all important things you need to check off of your list before winter sets in.     The leaves clinging to the trees, putting on their final show of glory, before fluttering to the ground will, of course, need to be raked. But don't forget to make sure you clean your gutters. Gutters that don't drain properly are a m...

Fall is here and winter is approaching...with that in mind temperatures are dropping. Last week in Pullman Washington we had unusually cold weather. Temperatures dropped from our usual 30 to 40 night time temps to nearly 10 degrees!  Fortunately, things have warmed back up, but with that in mind it is time to think about how your home "shows" during the fall and winter months.   For those of you home owners who are living in your home while your home is on the market, please make sure to leave those interior lights on and furnace up for showings.   If you should have a fireplace, a fire in the fireplace is a great selling point! A well lit home is a great marketing tool too!  You might want to consider some lights a long your walk way. And think of how many people pass by your home on ...

Behind the scenes in the life of a REALTOR® is the on-going process of education. Being up on the changes facing any industry is key. And certainly real estate in the State of Washington is no exception. Yesterday I attended our Washington Core Class, brushing up on both basic topics and new changes in the face of real estate as it pertains to Washington as well as our own marketplace. Our class yesterday covered many issues, but centered on our state wide forms, the toolbox of REALTORS®. Our class was in Clarkston, Washington, and it was a beautiful day in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley. It was hosted by Annie Fitzsimmons, a lawyer who serves as general counsel to the Washington RELATORS®. Because of her behind the scenes involvement with the development of the Washington State Wide For...

Fall is in full swing in Pullman Washington and the leaves are putting out their final show before tucking in for their long winter's nap. Now is great time to get a head start on getting your yard ready for the Spring, or spruced up for the Fall and Winter selling season. Landscaping plants are traditionally drastically marked down. Both shrubs and trees get the fall growing season to get established before putting on their spring show.                 Fall is also a great time to tuck some bulbs in for that early spring season.  Here in Pullman Washington, we traditionally have cold  springs.  Often our temps drop below freezing.  Spring bulbs putout a show that is hard to beat.    And don't forget to tuck a few left over bulbs in some of your now vacant pots for a great show o...

Well, FALL is upon us in Pullman, WA.  I'm having my cup of coffee before I start my day and admire the scenery.  The weather has changed and the view from my backyard is quickly turning from green to gold.      It was a glorious SUMMER this year with warm temperatures lasting well into the end of September, but now the temperatures have started to cool pretty drastically.  Pullman weather changed from having 90's heat up our days to the high 50's during the day...all within one weeks time.  Wow!  Talk about changes!  I quickly turned the air conditioner off and the heater on!  Warm PJ's came out and blankets were put on the beds.  The green hills have turned to gold and we are enjoying the beauty of FALL.       As we jump into the month of October, we admire the change of scenery and e...

What a kick!  Today was Sports Day at Sunnyside Elementary in Pullman, WA.  My eight year old daughter jumped out of bed and hurried to see if her dad had gone to get her the jersery he promised.  There wasn't a peep out of her as she quickly made her bed and put on her WSU Women's Soccer jersey, short and socks.  She smiled (even though half asleep) as I took her picture.  Our mini WSU Coug!

I don't remember getting into my doddering years.  After all, I'm still nimble, I can still beat some of the junior high girls in a foot race (if I make it long enough to bore them) and I almost always can find my way home. So I was a little surprised to receive an email from the Whitman County Association of Realtors thanking me for volunteering to the strategic planning board. Huh!? I remember filling out the survey they sent.  They sent me one because I'm an affiliate - usually that means the people that sponsor the treats for meetings but the WCAR has done a nice job of trying to include their affiliates. And because they're nice folks (and I'm doddering), I'm inclined to try to help.  I have a few ideas but thought I'd seek the collective wisdon of AR. What suggestions, based on yo...
