These past few weeks have been crazy busy yet wonderful. Lately, I’ve really come to appreciate those quiet moments when they happen. Last Wednesday I was on my way to the Kent office when I got a text from my coworker pal Jill Bell. “I know this is totally last minute, but do you have time for lunch?”We’ve been trying to get together to work on a few projects, marketing, and event dates but had to bail at the 11th hour because stuff happens and we’re all so busy. Sunday, August 9, 2015...Final preparations are almost complete for our departure August 11th. The Minkler Expedition, aka  Seniors of Discovery Expedition 2015 will be taking to the great I-90 eastbound across country at 6:00 am sharp Tuesday morning. Destination Branson, Missouri.It’s been a busy day. I completed my final training this morning with Captain Keith. This was my 4th and final exercise at the helm of our 1998 Dodge diesel 3/4 ton pickup, 5 speed manual with Prairie Schooner attached, up and down freeways and winding side roads to South Hill Puyallup and back to Kent.I think I did okay, but caught myself using the brakes a little too much a few times instead of gearing down and using engine compression. She’s raved about this place for a long time suggesting we stop here. So after an appointment nearby the other day, we did.I'm so glad. I love Indian food. I drive by here all the time and though curious, I never stopped. Probably because I prefer not to eat out alone. I had a real treat this morning with coworker and good friend Jill Bell. We met with Gary Wagner and crew to give a presentation about our #mobilecomcamp social media class coming up at #WestfieldSC later this month.I haven’t seen Gary for years. I remember meeting him when I first started in the title industry back in 1984. He lives and works in Kent, Washington and their family owned real estate company is one of the oldest independents in the area.One delightful surprise today was Gary shares a passion with me for old maps. He has several in his office and this one in the photo dates back to circa 1895. I cracked up after Jill and I left. Do you know the meaning of the coins? I did not until a few years ago. A coin is a message to the family that someone stopped by to pay respect...A penny means you visited to pay respect.A nickel means you and the deceased trained at boot camp together.A dime means you served together,and a quarter means you were there when the soldier was killed. God Bless you all who served. I was in Federal Way Wednesday morning shooting some video at our branch and having a great deal of fun. It was all about the #SEAHAWKS today! We were creating a 'team spirit' funny video, then off to our Kent Branch, just across the valley. So arriving in Kent (long story short) this gal in her great big high riding 3/4 ton super customized pickup truck with oversized tires and one of those big ol' custom made wraparound the front end tube bumpers tries to pull through an empty parking stall and hooks the front bumper of this car and totally rips the front end off! As the story unfolded the driver of said big bad oversized truck made every attempt to document it, did not flee the scene, took photos, and went through the building to find the car owner... No luck. It sat this way all day...
