Flowers are in Bloom in Gig Harbor I have been out in my yard doing a lot of work the last couple of weeks. Last fall we had to cut back a lot of our Rhododendrons and weren’t even sure they were going to bloom this year. It was a very nice surprise to find that they have begun to bloom! That is one of the things that I love about Gig Harbor and Washington for that matter. We have the wonderful natural resource of Rhododendrons. They are one of the most beautiful flowers I have seen and I am very excited that they have started to bloom in my yard!   GIG HARBOR HOME SEARCH   If you would like more information about Gig Harbor’s Real Estate Market, please don’t hesitate to call! 253.426.8785

Gig Harbor Stump Grinding Wilderness Stump Grinding Service Recently we had several large and small trees removed from our property and what I didn’t realize is what was going to be left behind. Companies that cut down trees don’t take out the stumps. I didn’t know this when we began this journey. And yes… It has been a journey. I thought this was something that was quick and painless. The tree cutting down day was one of stress! If I had none how stressful this was to be I would have left for the week. Ours did take almost a week due to the sheer size of the trees we had cut down and the amount. But we made it through and now we’re in the cleanup mode. One part of this journey that was simple was choosing to hirer Wilderness Stump Grinding Service. Owner/Operator Larry Fothergillhas be...

Somebody that I used to know… I have been really thinking about a trend that seems to be taking hold in today’s communication. I’m not sure that most people have thought about what this time means and where it will go. I find it fascinating that we have already started to take this time for granted. This is like a communication revolution and we sit here not even realizing the power behind this age. The future holds so much and at the same time I feel like we are held back. What sparked this in me was hearing all the complaints about social media and other aspects of the internet. I feel like we think that everything should be handed to us and that we have the right to complain about it regardless of the situation. Take Facebook and Twitter, which of course are the top two. Both these s...

A Surprise for my Buyers at Their New Gig Harbor Home!   Today was one of the first days Gig Harbor has seen the sun this spring and we got more than just that wonderful surprise today. While I was with my Buyers today on their home inspectionof their new home, we noticed that the fish were out in the pond. Of course we knew this pond was there, but until today we had no idea what was to be expected. When we first looked at this home it was cold and rainy and we were told there were fish in there, but had no idea how big or small they were.   When we pulled up today and got out of the car I immediately noticed the fish were out! They were HUGE Koi. The biggest one we saw had to be 2 feet long! I have never seen Koi this big at a residential home. Not only were they huge, but there wer...

How much does it Cost You to Rent Your Home? That seems to be a question that is getting really hard to stomach the answer. Rents are going up at a staggering amount and it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop any time soon. The reason for this is because of the fears about buying homes has flooded the rental market. That means there are fewer rentals out there, but more renters. It is another case of simple supply and demand. Here is an example of how much it will cost you to own your home vs. rent your home over 30 years. Since 30 years is usually the standard for a mortgage term. If you both pay $1,500 per month with an annual rent increase of 3.2% (yes, that’s the current rate) you renters will have paid $900,000 compared to a home ownerat $540,000 Use this same scenario and let’s s...

Gig Harbor Real Estate Inventory is Down! Since the last quarter of 2011 we have seen a steady decline of the Homes Listed Inventory. Why does this matter you ask? This is a HUGE deal when it comes to how our Local Real Estate Marketis doing. The reason why we have seen more of a Buyer’s market in the past few years is because the inventory of homes has been overwhelming. It all goes back to supply and demand.  When you have more homes on the market then there are Buyer’s prices go down. So, what happens when inventory is low? Home values begin to go up! We have been in a Buyer’s market since the downturn in 2008. In Gig Harborand the surrounding Pierce, King, and Kitsap Counties we have seen steady results that Inventory is getting less and less. We usually see a spike of Inventory in ...

HARBOR GREENS GIG HARBOR Have you been disappointed lately with the grocery stores produce in Gig Harbor? Have you thought it is really expensive and when you get it home it’s not that fresh? I have! And I wanted to share with you a little secret that most don’t think is the case. I am sure you have all heard or seen Harbor Greens. It’s that great little grocery store on Olympic Drive. I have heard people say to me “They are so expensive”. This couldn’t be further from the truth! They are NOT expensive at all; in fact they are downright cheap, when it comes to produce. It’s usually as local as they can get and they are probably half the price if not more than Safeway and QFC. PLUS, the produce is so fresh! I have been going there for a year now and I have nothing but great things to say...

If you feel like shifting economic winds have not been in your favor lately, you are in good company. More than 6 million homeowners nationwide are in some stage of foreclosure. If this is the case with you or someone you care about, you are all too aware of the stress and uncertainty that accompanies notices of default, unwanted phone calls and offers of help that turn out to be no help at all. Buying a home in Canterwood near Gig Harbor | GUILD MORTGAGE | Tom Jarzynka I grew up in the Gig Harbor area and I have spent a lot of time in Canterwood over the years. If you are interested in buying a home in Canterwood for the community, clubhouse, the golf course, the stocked trout pond, location, etc.... it is a good call. The great thing about buying a home in Canterwood is that Canterwood has so much to offer within its gated community, but, also, the surrounding area has a lot to offer with nearby Gig Harbor City Center, the Puget Sound, the Olympic Peninsula, and the list goes on and on and on.... Living in this area gives you and your family a very high quality of life that you would only hope for your family. The Peninsula school district is held at high standards; the teach...

Is Your Marketing Plan Getting Your Home Sold? Most past sellers ask me what makes a good marketing plan. What should ask the Realtors? These are very valid questions. Marketing a home has changed dramatically in the last 3 years. You can’t put a “for sale sign” up and enter the home into the MLS and know that a buyer is going to call tomorrow to put in an offer. It takes work to get a home sold in today’s market. There is so much competition out there your home has to stand out on many different levels.  The number one question you should ask is “What is my home worth?” This is a huge step in determining if your Realtor is out to buy your listing or be honest with you. This is another reason it is important to interview at least 3 Realtors. If two are close in price and the third is wa...

Have you had your home on the market and your home hasn’t sold? Do you know why this is? Has your Realtor told you what needs to happen to get your home sold? Has your Realtor marketed your home well? Have you Google’d your address lately to see what your Realtor has been doing to market your home? If you have answered NO to most of these then you need to re-evaluate your home selling plan. What made you choose the Realtor that you did? This is one of the first questions I ask when sellers come to me after their home has been on the market for a long time and it hasn’t sold. Most of the time they say it was a referral from a friend or family member or they found them on the internet. This is a great way to find a Realtor, but you shouldn’t choose the first one that comes your way. Don...
