One of the fun things about summer in the great Pacific Northwest is all of the great outdoor music festivals. From huge commercial events at places like The Gorge and Marymoore Park to smaller local events like Summer Sounds at Skansie Park in Gig Harbor. The Summer Sounds series kicks on on June 27th.  With the Dusty 45's Wrapping up this years series will be Ranger & the  Re-Arrangers on August 15th.Make sure you get the dates on your calendar soon. The park fills up quickly so get there early to have the best seats on the lawn. Over at Explore Washington State you can find the entire list of bands and dates for this years series. Hope to see you in Gig Harbor this summer!

I was in one of my favorite little towns in the Pacific Northwest not long ago, Gig Harbor. I always enjoy my visits here. This day I was on a friendly reconnaissance mission in old downtown down by the waterfront. We were scouting out locations on Harborview Drive for my Mobilecomcamp class. We stopped at several of the local small businesses along the way and our last stop before taking a lunch break was Wild Birds Unlimited. Out front they have a wonderful menagerie of yard ornaments, bird baths, and yard art etc., and inside the store they have all kinds of pet and wild bird supplies, (food for squirrels too!), and a fun little gift shop.I totally cracked up when I discovered this 3d cardboard Tiger card... What a cool idea! I couldn't resist and had to put this little video together...

Gig Harbor Wind, Water, and Snow? This has been a crazy 12 hours here in Gig Harbor. We have seen rain, wind, floods, and we have possible snow in the forecast for this evening. I’m not sure Gig Harbor can take anymore abuse today. It all started last night around 10:00pm when the wind started to pick up with a cold front that was moving through. As usual with great consistency the temperature soared significantly while the wind howled most of the night. I woke up around 3:30am to my power out, but thank goodness it was only for a short period of time. The Gig Harbor winds were still a blowing when I woke up this morning at 6:00am. I had to leave to go to the gym and on my way there were several limbs and small trees down all over Gig Harbor. Our area is full of large trees and it is al...

Here are some tips for your home improvement real estate projects for our local Gig Harbor area. 1) Beware of Craigslist Contractors.   Most of the scam artists in Gig Harbor find you through Craigslist. 2) Quality Knows Quality.  The key to finding quality contractors is to ask reputable sources such as going to your local huge tile supplier, local master builders association, or your local hardware store.  In contrast, if you hire one bad contractor, they will hiring very poor subcontractors. 3) Check their license and bonding info.   Some scam artists will use the license and bonding of another contractor; make sure the person you are talking to is licensed and bonded by checking here. 4) Compare bids. Always get three bids for every job, but don’t take the lowest bid.  Take the midd...

What a great Friday... a perfect way to wind up the week. I'm headed over the Narrows Bridge this morning to spend the day with Amy Kalafatich (my coworker at The Talon Group) in Gig Harbor, one of my favorite towns in the Pacific Northwest. You gotta love Social Media. Someday's it's just magical, like today. We started the day off at Borders Books for a meet and coffee with Matt Morgan, Windermere Real Estate Gig Harbor. Matt and I found each other on Twitter and have been tweetin' back and forth for a couple of months or so. And now we're here sitting across the table from each other talking up a storm like we've known each other forever... Thanks Matt, I missed the photo-opp, (coffee hadn't kicked in yet for the social media marketing opportunity) but what a wonderful conversation w...
