City of Covington's Last Citizen Forum of the Year! The City of Covington will be holding their last informal gathering of the year and all residents are encouraged to attend.  It will be held Wednesday, October 14th from 7 - 8:30 p.m. at the City Council Chambers at City Hall. This is an opportunity to meet new residents, ask questions of the City staff, pick up some new information and enjoy some light snacks. Mayor's Day of Concern for the Hungry   The City of Covington is doing their part to help with the need to feed the hungry in our community.  On Saturday, September 26th from 10 AM - 2:30 PM you can stop by the Safeway in Covington, meet your council members and commissioners, and make a non-perishable food donation.    The itmes collected will be donated to the local food bank. 09/24/2009

Purple Light Nights is an event that started in Covington, WA in 2007.  The event has grown nationally with fourteen other states now participating in the 3rd Annual Purple Light Nights campaign. Purple Light Nights runs during the month of October, and the goal is to remember 494 domestic violence homicide victims in Washington State (from 1997 - 2008) and give hope to those who are still living with abuse.  The color purple is recognized as the international color symbolic of domestic violence. Covington, WA had 70 homes sell in the last 6 months (since 2/18/09), ranging in price from $139,000 to $439,000.  The average sale price was $260,947. Covington's average home measured 1924 sq ft.  Home prices have fallen a little over 3% since February in Covington.  Of the 7 homes that sold in Covington in July, 3 were bank owned, 2 were short sales, which means that 71.4% of the homes sold in July, '09 were distressed sales.
