[zip codes: 98310, 98311, 98312, 98314, 98337].  Of these 65 homes 26 were Bank Owned Properties and 4 were Short Sale Properties.  Roughly 1/3 of the market is still distressed properties.  Until these properties diminish pricing will be effected.  These Bremerton homes actually had a transfer of home ownership.   Over the last couple of years not only has the housing market been hit hard in the local area but also retail and fast-food locations have closed.  I hate to see businesses close in the area, it is a sign of something wrong.  First there was the Kentucky Fried Chicken down on Naval.  Then there was the Big Lots over on Sheridan, a pizza shop across the street and a bakery.  Last week the news was released that the Blockbusters in the QFC parking lot will be closing soon too.  Some of these businesses are national chains and some are locally owned.  Just sad.    So when I read that WinCo Foods was coming to Bremeton I thought - woo hoo!
